Portland keeps bringing in all these players to surround Lillard, and when that fails, they bring in more, yet they still cannot build a contender. Is Dame the problem? Stephen A...
The list is hilarious for another reason, which is that the best players on it...
Dame, LMA, Wesley, Batum
... were acquired prior to Neil Olshey. And no, Kevin Pritchard's old scouting department picked Lillard with the 6th pick.
2015 onwards was malpractice.

Someone pointed out that if you look at every player selected for All-NBA since 2015, Lillard is the only All-NBA player that didn't play with another active All-Star, All-NBA, or All-Defensive/DPOY player. The only one.
Most of those guys fell out of the league after leaving the Blazers.
So either Dame made them look good, or they were always complete bums

Supposed to be one of the top prospects of the 2024 class lmao. The US U16 team could probably beat every single U19 team competing in these tournaments.
I respect Real Ones podcast for doing a review episode of their bad/hilariously off takes from this season. Great content
By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To Postewwwwwwwwwwwww
Yeah, that's gonna be a no. Could see flipping Anfernee + picks for the guy as long as you don't mortgage the entire future though.
I get why they didn't trade Scoot even if it makes the Dame situation untenable. Gotta get back a no BS star in their prime. Anything else would be malpractice.
Going to be a pretty damned interesting week or two for the Blazers at minimum.
I guess the optimistic thought with him on the Blazers would be that coming off the bench could actually be good for him, since it would force him to develop his off-ball skills more and he's probably not going to be good enough to be a positive force against NBA level starters yet. Kind of like the theory that Kentucky guards always turn out well because they don't get to just jack up shots like most top prospects, lol.
Rumors are hearing up about DiVincenzo to the Knicks. Don't really understand the fit with the current roster, Knicks might have some other shit planned.

I mean, if they figure he's more like an Anthony Edwards or a Luka Doncic tier of NBA ready that you can bring off the bench the first year then you absolutely talk yourself into that move over damn near anything else and figure out the fit later, right?

I'd be pretty happy to have rookie Ant coming off my bench. If Scoot were Luka level ready he would have won G League MVP.

It's been a huge weakness for them, much like when Jokic sits that bench tanks.
Right. For all this to work they STILL need a decent bench center and a starting caliber SF though. One of those is easy, the other not so much.
Hilarious seeing Nets fans say "we want Dame" but then say "we can't trade Claxton for him because he's our most important player" ???????????????
Like, nah, no. Pay up.

By reilo Go To PostHilarious seeing Nets fans say "we want Dame" but then say "we can't trade Claxton for him because he's our most important player" ???????????????I think Dame is the most underrated player in the league by fans, lol (would probably be Butler if the Heat didn't keep going deep in the playoffs). He's an actual top ten player and people think they can get him for scraps. Even defense first guys who historically tend to be underappreciated get more props than he does.
Like, nah, no. Pay up.
How much of Dame's number is just looting in a riot? Portland is like....dogshit.
Obviously he's really really good but a top 10 player should be able to drag nobodies to a play in game.

By s y Go To PostHow much of Dame's number is just looting in a riot? Portland is like….dogshit.None of it lol, getting that team to 33 wins is a huge achievement. I don't think you fully understand just how bad that roster is. You really think if you put KD on that team instead of Dame they're making the play in?

This is exactly why he's so frustrated, people like sy think he's an empty stats guy because of the embarrassing roster. The real empty stats guys are the ones who "carry" their "scrub" teams to the playoffs, but then when the scrubs leave they turn into All Stars and the team can't make the playin... cough Luka cough. None of Dame's old teammates have done anything, they just suck.
Draymond Green loses his moving screens immunity when he leaves the warriors so idk if the blazers are ready for that

By diehard Go To Postsome posts about how good Jerami Grant and Simons are will need some scrubbingAnfernee Simons is one of the worst defenders in NBA history (since at least 1997) by multiyear RAPM (Trae is still worse though lol but somehow is still a positive player). I don't think people are fully capable of comprehending someone's defense being THAT bad which is why people think of Simons as some sort of asset, but he cannot play a significant role on a winning team.

LOL
Do we really need to go there? Here's Dame embarrassing the Lakers on Kobe tribute night with a starting lineup of Dame, CJ, Wenyen Gabriel, Hassan Whiteside and washed Trevor Ariza. They made the playoffs that year with even worse starting lineups than that, including a really "awesome" one that had Anthony Tolliver and Mario Hezonja starting instead.
By diehard Go To Postsome posts about how good Jerami Grant and Simons are will need some scrubbingThey are good (not great!) but the rest of the roster is a G-League squad. But Simons is redundant next to Dame and vice versa and the fit was always gonna be awkward at best.
reilo was defo mad fuming about simons’ position on the ringer list lol
Fwiw from my incredible three years of basketball watching experience, Lillard is easily one of the top ten players in the league.

With the new draft rules + next year's draft supposedly being terrible will tanking be at a new low? Hope so.

What's crazy is that I already said Lillard is really really good, the hyperbole with which you admonish his former peers is quite telling.
By diehard Go To PostWith the new draft rules + next year's draft supposedly being terrible will tanking be at a new low? Hope so.I honestly don't think there will be a single outright tanking team next season outside the Wizards. Everyone knew this was going to be a bad class, so a lot of bad teams already gave up their first round picks this year, or have super light protections on them (Rockets 1-4, Raptors 1-6). The Spurs, Blazers, and Pistons will probably be bad and own their own picks, but they are definitely going to be trying to win games. Bulls might tank if they decide to blow it up, but I doubt they're going to do it given the draft class this year. Obviously even with every team trying to win, some of the teams will be near the bottom of the standings, but I think basically everyone else will be legitimately trying to make the play-in.
By s y Go To PostJust finished reading this post. CJ McCollum sucks now??

Dame is nice, but he's basically the Harden of PGs to Steph's LeBron. I would just rebuild around Scoot and send Dame to the best situation, and I'd give him the out he desperately wants which is that we were the ones that pushed for the trade.
By s y Go To PostJust finished reading this post. CJ McCollum sucks now??CJ is one of the only non scrubs he's ever played with and they made the playoffs every single year they were on the same team. And he's not that good lol, he's like the third or fourth best player on a Pelicans team that barely made the play-ins.

I'm not saying he's at the level of prime Steph or anything like that. Doesn't change how absurd it is that people expect him to make the playoffs with his current roster. It is objectively true that the only active players in the entire league who have ever dragged this level of terrible roster to the playoffs are LeBron and Jokic. You might want to argue that other guys could have done it, but they never did, because they never had close to this bad of a roster around them in the primes.

LMA is retired and hasn't played with Dame in almost a decade. The 2014-15 team was the last legit good team assembled around him -- a team that Olshey inherited and then blew up.

Nah, Harden was getting to the playoffs with Gordon as his number 2 some of those years in Houston, he may have failed in the playoffs but he was definitely dragging some trash rosters with him.

Harden played with MULTIPLE All-Stars, All-NBA, All-Defensive, MVPs, 6MOY, and future HoFers
To even compare the two rosters those two played with is insulting. What revisionist nonsense is this?
