So they usually don't play rookies much unless they are Luka Doncic level offensive talents. His offense didn't really come along until this year so he was being used as a defensive specialist. That said, Tony is also extremely stupid and his team is really bad, he has his brother coaching it and they've gotten worse every year since that started. They also just drove away another top prospect who also wasn't getting minutes, lol. Wembanyama's French league team beat them in the playoffs this year with guards that literally don't know how to inbound the basketball.

Meanwhile ASVEL (Tony's team) was the worst team in the Euroleague this year by faaaar without him, they had a worse record in the regular season in the French league than Wemby's team which is extremely embarrassing for a Euroleague team competing in one of the regional leagues.

They have gotten shorter but some of that is just the direction of the league. RB's are less important now so why pay your existing one when you get can get one on a rookie contract?
Yeah they're more like traditional centers in the NBA... it's not that centers wash out faster, it's just that they're so easy to find now that the game is international that all but the very best of them end up undrafted and playing in other leagues instead, and they get booted out of the league the moment their production dips. NFL doesn't have any other serious leagues so instead teams just take terms getting them for cheap on rookie deals.
