By Sharp Go To PostOh shit we got TJD? I can't believe he dropped that far…
…wait he went to the Warriors? God damn it.
Will be interesting to see if he makes the roster. They had Trevion Williams in camp last year and I thought he'd get a chance due to his passing but he didn't stick.

Honestly you all had a sick draft, you got unreal value from those picks. I can't believe TJD was available and we just handed him to you.
By diehard Go To PostCan Oscar Tshiebwe really not play in the NBA?He'll probably get a contract as a UDFA.
By s y Go To PostDraft is worthless, you can always find sum g league bum that is surprisingly good in the playoffsLiterally works for you guys and no one else.
Grizzlies drafted someone younger than bronny James wtf
Edit: also apparently drafted during a jeep commercial so I am expecting great things

I like how in the post draft roundtable article ESPN immediately asks the panel about where Dame is going. They want so hard to create stories rather than report on them.

Finally getting around to watching a highlight video:
- cautiously excited by a 3pt focused Rip Hamilton
- seriously, his movement shooting at the 3pt line and off-ball movement is extremely impressive
- intrigued by how well he can move his hips on both offense and defense
- rim attempts will be an adventure
- don't think he will ever be a capable iso player (probably my biggest disappointment with him)
- developing a consistent floater/runner will be his swing skill in being able to run secondary/tertiary PnR actions
- not too worried about consistency on defense because he appears to give a shit about it
- 18 blocks as a guard is cool to see
- a little worried about the rebounding as there seems to be a fear of boxing out larger guys
- think he will always be susceptible to bully ball, even after adding strength
Someone talk to me about Scoot's shooting mechanics. I don't know how to feel about it.
[*]His overall mechanics look a bit, slow?
[*]He also loves to kick out his left leg backwards, looks like a hitch.
[*]His left elbow chicken wings out
[*]He recedes his shooting motion the moment he lets the shot go rather than keep the follow-through

By reilo Go To PostSomeone talk to me about Scoot's shooting mechanics. I don't know how to feel about it.The release is definitely a bit slow, which I think is the most concerning part due to his height (like I said I don't buy the 6'9" wingspan, or if it's true it must not translate to standing reach like you'd expect). I think he flat out needs a faster release if he wants to be able to make it a real weapon, more than almost any other guy in the league, since like I mentioned earlier his jumper gets blocked an insane amount of the time compared to any other guy I've watched. I'd be less concerned about the other stuff, which I think are probably fixable and might not even be an issue if he's consistent with this form. It's not like his jumper is broken or anything, people saying he can't shoot are exaggerating tremendously. Just that due to his physical limitations he can't get away with the kind of inefficiencies like taller guys like Miller can.

I think the wingspan and reach were confirmed by Portland. He's also 6'2.5" w/o shoes. I actually think his long arms might explain his slow release because he spends a lot of time getting the ball into shooting position.

I actually think his long arms might explain his slow release because he spends a lot of time getting the ball into shooting position.A competent shooting coach will be able to help him make his shot more compact, assuming Scoot is diligent about effectively practicing it.
Like, that's the whole thing behind Chip Engerland's and Fred Vinson's methods: they don't rebuild your shot, they tweak it. They focus on helping the player make their shot more repeatable in a manner of ways that usually work together to make the release quicker. Remove excess movements, make existing movements more compact, etc. They simplify the shooting form.
I think Scoot is a hell of a prospect, and I definitely don't mind the Kris Murray pick either. But that roster has 5 guards that need minutes, maybe 6 depending on what you think about Matisse Thybulle. Plus 1 center that can reliably be counted on to start with a not great injury history and probably 0 small forwards worth mentioning.
They really need to figure the roster out before the season starts one way or another, especially if they aren't going full clownshoes RE:Dame.
Now that I've had some time to stew on it I absolutely get why they picked instead but man is the roster busted right now, even more than usual.

By Kibner Go To PostOur new GM came from the Thunder and apparently was one of the guys who scouted Bilal. I think they were both gunning for him. Supposedly several other teams were interested as well. I was honestly kind of expecting all the smoke about him having a promise and Wemby talking about him being top ten was just his agent trying to hype him up, but apparently it was all factual...
My biggest concern with him is that I don't know how great his defense actually is right now. Everyone looks good on defense when Wembanyama is on the floor because they can play super aggressively and gamble a lot without worrying about drives to the rim. His measurables are elite and he tries, so he will probably be good eventually, I just don't know whether he's as far along as people think. Similar concerns on offense, he was wide open most of the time on the Mets and usually only handled the ball against bench lineups. Still promising, just I feel like he's more raw than he looked in the playoffs. His passing OTOH I think is the real deal, and good passing is usually a good sign...

Summer League is good this year
They're gonna have to put a stop to that Scoot/Shaedon/Kris/Walker/Badji lineup almost right away because it's just gonna be too damned unfair. Gotta figure 3 or 4 of those dudes are just plain too good for the venue.
By reilo Go To PostI doubt Shaedon plays more than a game or two if it all
Same with Scoot.
Oscar Tsiebwe signed with the Pacers, which makes me happy but after that interview I wanted him on the Blazers G-League team. Sigh.

Pretty sure Pop said Victor not doing summer league.
Do we think Draymond getting that 100mil?
Never heard of this guy until today and he doesn't seem to have been on anyone's radar at all, but the Heat just got him as a UDFA and I'm now wondering why he wasn't... I figure he must be getting absolutely cooked on defense? His skills at 6'11" look like they should translate regardless of competition level...

All she had to do was stfu and keep collecting checks, Zion might’ve eventually went back to her
Lol tatted face, insane
Heat had a solid draft night, UCLA center that shoots 3’s and other bigs
Zeller time might be over

Until Dame says "or else" there's no reason for the Blazers FO to not continue their transparent two-timeline moves.
