By Laboured Go To PostNot bad guesses, save for maybe Lenglet.Look, when Maguire goes you'll need someone to sit on the bench until the Europa games
united will probably end up getting him, but... do they really need him when they already have casemiro?

We won't end up getting him but we definitely will need a new DM within the next year. Casemiro is already 31 (and Brazilian).

Automatic yellow if someone other than the captain dares to speak to the ref? Quite silly.
Arsenal seems like the best and most likely fit for Rice to me. Think it's case of right player wrong time for us considering Casemiro.

By Willkiller Go To PostPoint one is stupid as fuck. Why is it silly? 10 players surrounding and yelling in the referees face is ridiculous and embarrassing, and no other sport allows such a thing

And added time is an absolute joke and I have no idea how to fix it, but it is a joke. Half the time the referees pull the minutes out of their ass

Yeah but he doesn't say that does he. He only the captain should speak to the ref unless the ref asks for a player. Why would the captain be able to help? Refs should hand out more yellow cards for players that get in their faces and wind them up. Absolutely. But imposing these hard rules on who can and can't speak is daft, it just wouldn't work in practice in a highly emotional and intense environment.
It's a very.....Resetera moderator approach to solving the issue.

Have you been listening to Sky Sports talk about "Dark Arts" again?
is a football match more "emotional and intense" than your average rugby game? or nba or nfl game for that matter?
because this type of behaviour seems to happen quite a lot in football and not so much in other sports.

There's a mutual respect in rugby. Players speak to the referee all the time in rugby. The refs will calmly warn players if they're getting out of line and, usually, the players respect that. That's what we should hope for in football too, but saying anyone that speaks to the ref unless spoken to gets a yellow card isn't the way to do it. In short, refs in rugby get respect because they give respect.
It's really simple in my eyes, refs should hand out cards if players get out of line, and the barrier for what constitutes out of line should be lowered. But totally removing lines of communication...how does that help?
Can't speak to the other sports, don't watch them.
i think (san) marco (van basten) agrees with you (and with me).
where does the mutual respect in rugby come from? why are those men who are much bigger and stronger and test-filled so much more calm than football players?

By bud Go To Posti think (san) marco (van basten) agrees with you (and with me). It's just accepted that the refs don't take any shit. Kids playing it are taught the same, just respect the refs. You can make your points but ultimately the ref has final say, you have to accept that or you'll be punished. It's as much in the fabric of the game as not respecting refs is in the fabric of football at this point.

Edit: I think there's also pretty clear boundaries. I think one of the issues in football is that there's np indication where the line is. I wouldn't have a problem with them writing in the rules that someone mimicking the showing of a card should be a yellow card for example. Nice, clear boundary. But someone being carded for daring to speak to a ref without being spoken to? Na.
I think it helps that rugby players tend to be a littleâŚsmarter too. Despite the bangs on the head.
Referees are frauds and until the state of officiating is higher, I don't really care if refs get swarmed.
By n8 dogg Go To PostWasnât Monchi a disaster at Roma?
Probably because of that lad Totti.
Since he retired, Roma have reached a European final and Spalletti has won Serie A.
He was holding everyone back.

I was ready to jump on you after the first post, but you second post makes complete sense.
I enjoy the NBA, but one of the things that is annoying is when refs give a technical foul on a player because they rolled their eyes immediately after a play and that was deemed disrespectful. Sport is played with passion, and shit happens in the heat of the moment.
A player might get up in a refs fave after an incident, but instead of giving out an automatic yellow, it would be better if the ref said âI hear you, now walk awayâ. If the player doesnât, then a yellow.
But i still think any goalkeeper that rushes 50 metres to shout at a ref deserves a yellow.
By bud Go To Postbatong (the bald one), care to chime in on this?

The bolded is pretty much it for me. Nice and simple.
The second point, I mean if they run 50 metres and shout? Yellow
Run 50 metres to make a valid point the ref might have missed/not considered etc? Fine
By Xpike Go To Postseems we're bidding around 90m pounds for Rice, no way that doesnt get acceptedjohncenaareyousureaboutthat.gif
Don't underestimate the English player at a PL club premium.
Bummed about Arsenal having almost a free go at Rice, but we've got other needs and probably s shoestring budget like always because the fucking leeches can't be arsed to fuck off now that we got CL again
Wrexham just announced United Airlines as their new shirt sponsor for next season in league two.
So nice to see those plucky underdogs get a chance against the many mega clubs of the lower divisions. Greedy Sutton United took advantage of their local connections to get surrey based roofing supplies merchant Angel Plastics as their shirt sponsor

Jude Bellingham is 19 years old and has already played 198 professional games. There should absolutely be more safeguards surrounding young players.
Also convinced that Fati and Pedri have been essentially abused by Barcelona and their injury issues stem from that.
