This is probably when John Murtough needs to intervene.
Think ETH actually fancies DDG quite a bit. Most clean sheets in the league after all. Yeah his passing might be dodgy at times but he ticks the other boxes. Reckon ETH thinks other parts of the squad are much more urgent matters.
I think the calculus is probably that Heaton is maybe retiring, Butland is on loan, and if you let DDG go then you've literally got no goalkeepers other than youth team. Now if we knew what was happening re the sale of the club then sure you'd say ok we'll buy a new one and bring in a reserve too, but who here would bet their life / career on being able to rely on what the Glazers are doing?
