Half way through a second run and the amount of times I eat an axe to the neck and go "parry it you fucking idiot" after is depressingly high.
I do like that they changed the flow of the game. I like how they made the courtyard creepier, not a fan of the big room redesign though.
Just did the siege in chapter 5. Leon pulling out the German suplex while a dozen Spaniards are bearing down on him.

Just finished my first run through. Thought the Sadler fight was also an improvement over the original but was slightly disappointed they didn’t keep his body hanging underneath like a set of truck nutz. No need to cheese that one - you can just avoid the Novistadors and let Sadler murder them for you for the most part. It’s not like they’re hiding and jumping you the whole time.
Overall I’d say it’s better than the original but only in the sense of hindsight. RE4 OG still one of the best games ever made given the time and context.

Finished at 20 hours or so, OG RE4 is a better game overall but this was a great remake to play through.

This game def has some unfair, probably should have been nerfed, bullshit. Most of it is due to how Leon has to go through every frame of recovery animation, and the enemies can just break some of the rules of the game or loop you to death.
Up to chapter 10 on the Pro speedrun, now. Economy management is tough, but I'm getting there.
Hot take: Pro mode isn't difficult enough, casually. It really only feels harder than it is, because the enemies can do absolutely dumb shit.

Got to the Island and took a break. Will probably play tomorrow. I thought the remake improved a lot in the castle but definitely getting hit with a couple things that just feel kinda cheap. Weapon choice is getting a lot more fun though I mostly just use the Red9 with the stock and the combat shotty which made Salazar a piece of cake
It also makes me appreciate RE2make some more because while RE2make felt pretty actiony at the time, I forgot just how much more of a rollercoaster ride is compared to RE2make which has some of the great parts of both types of REs.
