an agreed £30m naming rights option for the new stadium with Moshiri’s long-term business partner, Alisher Usmanov, was cancelled – after the oligarch was sanctioned in March following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
But, perhaps most significant of all, Everton backed away from the 2018 local authority funding deal and, in May 2022, Everton agreed to pay £502,000 of the £841,000 in costs Liverpool city council expended in exploring the loan.
Everton has been attempting to find financial backers to build its new stadium for years – eventually hiring the US investment bank JP Morgan and Japan’s largest bank, MUFG, to help raise the £500m required in January 2020.
Despite those two financial institutions searching for funds, financial backing has still to be secured almost three years on – and Everton has chosen an unorthodox route to start construction.

From personal experience, it does not go well when a club gets relegated in the middle of building a new stadium.
Went alright for us.
Second half gonna be brutal here. They'll go wide and we won't work out how to stop it until it's too late. Hixx Guarantee.

Absolutely. Wasn't so much a moan about tonight specifically but we'd be comfortable in the playoffs had even Simms not been recalled. Think we might regret not signing one in Jan for a few years.

iwobi has never achieved half of what Saka has this season, not only leading us to the Prem but being one of the best wingers in the game
By Xpike Go To Postiwobi has never achieved half of what Saka has this season, not only leading us to the Prem but being one of the best wingers in the gameIwobi had a great start at Arsenal, people forget about that with how bad he became afterwards.
Saka went a couple of gears up after that post of mine.
Coincidence? I think not
But at that point of this season, he wasnt performing.
By FortuneFaded Go To PostI bet there are similar posts about Rashford at the start of this seasonAbsolutely. Are they wrong?
Saka has become a different monster THIS season. He was already great before but not even close to what he and the whole team have tranformed into.
Remember we basically fucked up an easy UCL spot last season? I do.
By inky Go To Post🚨⚠️ fake fan alert ⚠️ 🚨What is a futebal, is it oval?
By Vini.lad Go To PostI wasnt wrong tho
You were wrong.
Saka was getting used to playing with a more defensive minded RB. He had very little help. He wasn’t playing poorly, just struggling to impact on the game with the majority of the action happening on the left hand side. He was still scintillating when he wasn’t being marked by two to three defenders on that side.
Most fans on here recognised that, but you just blamed Saka.
Saka’s form never changed, it was just eventually White grew more confident attacking higher up the pitch and making overlapping runs that gave Saka more freedom and another output.
