LMA's splits versus Spurs last 3 seasons is pretty damn good. 22PPG on 56FG%. Portland tends to play SAS tough -- something like 14-7 last few seasons.
I can't even begin to predict the Spurs-Blazers match up. The matchups are so vastly different…one is a high tempo team that looks to shoot a lot, which doesn't always work out in their favor. Good interior presence, but better around the perimeter. The Spurs and Blazers play at the exact same pace. :?
The other is significantly slower that moves the ball well, but tends to stagnate and rely on shooting later on in the games, when often times it's too little too late. Great interior presence, decent around the perimeter, but not quite close to the Blazers.
Can LMA size up well against Duncan or Diaw? And Lopez against Tiago or Diaw? Lillard is no doubt a better guard than Parker this year, imo…but playoff experience is a huge factor, which Lillard has none of. And what about the two wildcards on both teams? Manu and Batum, watching them play is an exercise in grade-A butt-clenching. Often times these two will cost you a game with their shot selection and inconsistent numbers. I'm predicting a 7 game series for these two.
Spurs = 95.0 Pace
Blazers = 94.9 pace
The 'fastest' series in the first round was LAC/GSW, 2nd was POR/HOU with SAS/DAL being right behind them.
I unno about the Spurs being a significantly slower team. they run and they also execute very quickly.
Surprised ESPN has the Clippers as the favorite. The bizarre thing is that ESPN's overall forecast is Thunder in 7, which the individual predictions don't indicate at all.
All in all Portland's a better match up for the Spurs than the Rockets.
Really comes down to whether Mo/TRob/Wright can play better than Mills/Green/Diaw

I don't think "pace" and "tempo" really go hand-in-hand. Pace is more about the frequency of possessions. When I look at tempo, I look at the execution of plays, how fast they're ran, how much time a team needs to gather to execute something, how much time is spent dribbling, etc. When I watch Spurs games, I see a team that plans more, slows down a bit (usually in the post), pass out to the perimeter, back to the post, and try to get their pieces in place. They execute quickly, but quicker than the Blazers? And this is purely execution, not actual conversions and success.
When I watch the Blazers, my eyes are all over the place. Nobody is as stagnant. The Spurs play like a chess set, everyone has their place and everyone has their specified range of motions, there's nothing wrong with that - it's a traditional style of play. The Blazers don't, they're a more dynamic and fluid team, they're more akin to how a team like the Thunder or Heat play - that's what makes them so incredibly different from the Spurs, thus making it hard to choose a clear victor. So it's not just about the amount of possessions, it's also how much action is going on without the ball from every individual.
disagree. i think there's more offball movement going on the spurs. everybody is cutting, curling, setting screens, etc.
Blazers need to pass the damn ball and calm their ass down when they get possessions. That's my take anyway.

What?
The spurs are the best team in the whole league at off ball movement, and they have the absolute most, and thats been true for about 3 or 4 years. They fastbreak, and they've typically started executing their half court sets by the 20second mark on the shotclock. (i.e. only 4 seconds have passed). They are the best passing team in the league. And if the ball ever goes into the post, there is continuous off ball movement. They're nuts to watch.
It's what people refer to when they mean "beautiful basketball".

Yeah if anybody has access to the SportVU data, I'd imagine Spurs would be #1 in miles ran.
This year is weird
I really like Portland as a team, and their players and fans have always been really cool imo. Dallas, for all the rivalry associated with it, has never really been the big villain to me.
So, my cheering has been fueled by love, not hate, and thats unusual and less enjoyable for me lol. Healthier (the saaalt after losing to OKC and MIA the last 2 years was awful), but less enjoyable after a win.

2nd round is gonna be so much quieter without us :/
"I want to give a shout out to Toronto, the city. This has got to be one of the best places and best atmospheres I've played in in a long time. I was sitting up here, Paul and I were talking, [Jason Collins] and I were talking about different places we'd played and the passion — but this place was rocking. D-Will was shooting free throws and our ears were ringing. Big shout out to the Toronto Raptors and their fans and their city."

Actually, Portland has 2 of the top 3 players in miles ran: Batum and Damian, both of them are also in Top 25 in Miles Per Game:What?

And Wesley Mathews is 8th. No Spurs player in the Top 25, except if you go Per 48, where you'll see De Colo in the Top 5.

I wonder how much of the sports tracking Pop used when decided who played and for how long. I doubt he told Parker, run as hard as you possibly can for can for 25-30 minutes a game, but maybe he did? Who knows

Went back and watched some highlight videos this past week, Matthews ability to go from light jog to full on sprint in no time is pretty intense.

Yeah, that's going to be entirely skewed by the heavy minutes of the blazers starters and the tiny minutes of everyone on the spurs.
The Wizards released a statement on Saturday night that read, “We are aware of the potential conflict and are working with the promoter in the event Game 6 is necessary, more information will be released when it becomes available.”
Everything you need to know how much fuck people give about the Wiz: their second round playoff game is gonna get upended by Lady Fucking Gaga.
Sorry, Faze.
Wiz gonna get it done in 5.keep dreaming.
Why the fuck would I ever dream about Pacers basketball? If it were up to me they would have a best of 3 series and have all 3 games on the same day.
That pic is kinda irrelevant since YNB isn't in his prime yet and CP is just exiting his.
It's basicallya pic of Prime CP3 vs CharmanderWestbrook. I think YNB is gonna fare better this series than his averages would suggest.

this is me at work right now brehs
cant focus
A flying shovel to the head will get you focused...or not.
Paul's playing hurt, though. His hamstring injury might make it pretty tough to guard YNB, so hopefully DJ can help protect the rim against quick drives. That pic is kinda irrelevant since YNB isn't in his prime yet and CP is just exiting his.Well, YNB can only fare better than the bullshit he put up versus Memphis.

Russel's rebounding is godlk for a pointguard in the post season. really impressive.
averaged 10 boards a game vs Memphis.
Only a few point guards in NBA playoff history have averaged at least 9 rebounds a game for at least 4 games.

Yea, YNB's efficiency is scary bad, which is why I picked The Clips to win the series. I still think YN has a good chance to win the matchup against CP, since he is more active on offense than Curry and is more physical. CP has a good chance of limping away from this series.
This Pacers team needs to embrace Jesus. Or Satan. Just somebody or something.I don't think anybody wants to give Lance Stephenson a hug.
Yep. I have NO idea why they traded him for Artest. Sure there was the crazy shot by Artest that next year, but keep in mind that Ariza did the same thing the year before. I'm just not a fan of mortgaging the future for the present.Hey Lakers? Remember when you had Ariza?
Yea, and he helped us get a chip. It was pretty cool.
