Stroll almost destroyed Aston on lap 1 but after that, very good race
Aston made the right decicison racing him, couldn't see Drugo being 6th here

By MF Coom Go To PostNando is just way too smart tbh, really maximizes what he can do as a driverYeah too bad he's a Madrid cunt
RBR scary fast race pace, hopefully track depended, otherwise long year
Sergio does what he always does, just not on Max level
Aston Martin mega car and nice to have Fernando at the front
Lolrari, we have PU power back, race 1 hold my beer
Mercedes if not due to rear tires, need to fix their concept quickly or change it

Picked up at the end. Alonso handled that race masterfully and earned a podium for his efforts. Some great racing there.
Good recovery drive by Gasly. He and Alpine managed the undercut superbly. Williams picking up a point on the first race is a good. Sargeant had good pace keeping up with Albon.
A lot of work for Ferrari. Race pace not quite there and they cannot afford fragility. Mercedes average today. Nightmare for Haas. Absolutely ridiculous by McLaren who barely have a functional F1 car right now.
Dominant and comprehensive win by Verstappen. Roll on Jeddah.

Good stuff from gasly and alonso
Bad/disappointing from mclaren and ferrari
I'd say good from max too but he has set this high standard for himself and redbull cars are flying

AM with such a good starting position and more development time over the season is going to be really interesting. Can they keep pushing that car forward?
Saw some video the other day that said Ferrari and Merc think eventually their chassis will be better, so they don’t want to copy Red Bull like others are doing.
I just got into F1 last year, but RB seems far and ahead of them so idk what gives them that confidence

If you want to change your concept, you give up a lot of development time (time you spent on old). Because you start with a new concept the other top team already has been working on for a year. So you are always on the back foot, a development step behind and trying to catch up. So you rather analyse why you are behind, try to fix the problems you had with your car and believe that you can make bigger steps (gain more time) to the others.
So top teams therefore rather try to stick to their own concept, unless they really hit a point were they realise the other concept is just better, or has more potential. (you have to). Midfield teams do not see this as a problem, as they have far more to gain.
- Ferrari still believes this concept has that potential. Single lap pace is there, they just have to find a way to get that pace lap after lap while looking after their tires (race pace is the main problem). they still believe that they can do that with the SF23, have not given up after the 1st race.
- Mercedes thought fixing main problems from last year, suspension/ride height issues, would give them that extra lap time. Got the feeling after this weekend they did hit their performance targets, it just isn't good enough. And Toto was already talking about having to give-up on the W14 and throw this season away. He might be right, they see their own data and know what's coming for the year and if i is enough or not, but was surprised to hear that after 1 test and race on a for F1 typical circuit.

Thoughts and predictions on Piastri as a driver?
He was dominant in (the last part of) F2, but I cannot remember anything special in any of his drives (neither in F3), he was that year just faster than rest that season. In F3 he was lacking over one lap, Logan Sargeant was faster but in his 2nd year in F3. I can for example still remember things about Lewis his jr career or Max in F3, so right now I would say not a generational talent, but based on F2 the possibility of a very good fast driver. (like George/Lando)
Will he make it, to early to tell. Looks like he has the right mental attitude to go with some speed, but I thought the same with Vandoorne and one wrong teammate, mental struggle and your career in F1 is done and lets not forget that Lando is fast.
He needs to keep his nose clean, not overdrive and learn from Lando and if the talent is really there, the results will come in time. But right now it is to early to tell for me if he has what it takes to and at least be on par with Lando, his goal end of year and his 2nd year at McLaren.
Mercedes gone full McLaren
