Spain lay-out is good, terrible chicane gone. But two more fast right handers are going to make that track even more front-limited. Not quite sure if it is going to do a lot for extra overtaking, probably still need large tire offset.
di Resta wasn't following the partisan line, so had to go, was sticking out like a sore thumb. (racing more this year, probably)
Johnny is also gone, but that was needed at least 5 years ago. With no covid rules, Nico should be back in the paddock and stand in for him.

Added a link to the race calender (any device) in the OP for those that need one and driver/team info.
And here we go, RACE WEEK. After last weeks testing do hope Ferrari and maybe Merc/AM have found a bit of time, or did not show all last week to challenge RBR. Good thing is we are racing at night (cooler), so in general gaps are little less than maybe last week seamed, again at least do hope so.
Alpine talks a good game, did not see it last week so curious to what their pace is and for Lando's sake, hopefully McLaren not that bad.

Looks a lot like testing so far.
RBR ahead, Sergio one lap and Max race pace in the end. Single lap Max did not look as stable, let go final Sector, might be Sergio experience. from testing short runs final day
Aston Martin pace is real
Ferrari all kind of "dumb" problems. New rear-wing wobbled so much it almost broke and Carlos spin and tires gone due to ride height? Charles lap on mediums was ok pace wise, doubts about longrun pace, maybe we get better answer for that in FP2
Mercedes 1st run ok mediums, 2nd on new mediums no progression, weird
If Alpine has pace, time to show it in FP2
Williams closer, but still at back
FP1 times:
Charles single pilon rearwing:
Carlos spin:

FP2:
nothing between Max and Fernando. Single lap Max lost bit of time in S1. Long-runs Fernando started bit faster more drop-off , but pace overall similar to Max. Checko quick one lap, 6/7 tenths of long-run pace . Lance OK, but struggling in T1, amount of wheel to turn
Ferrari bit of quick lap, long-run harder to read, they switched set of reds after 5/6 laps. First run bad, slow and deg the second one better, stil 4/5 tenths off pace. Carlos 4 tenths off
Alpine showed their pace, both single lap and long-run on Merc pace, slightly better deg, but have to check all lap times
Merc, single lap, still struggle to get temp in the fronts, long run expected them better because of that, but look to be rear tire deg more than top 2
Lando single lap looked ok, long-run just behind the Alpine, similar to Alfa
Hulk quick lap, less fuel presume, long run was behind other midfield cars
Willioams and AT look to be 2 slowest car with gap to end midfield
If today is representative, race between Max and Fernado for the win, Cheko p3 just ahead of Charles. Mission 33 starts on Sunday

How on earth do you go from the times posted today in FP2 to that F1.com race simulation pace. (historical fuel loads/engine modes?)
Compare that to this one (German, but graphs/numbers should be easy to follow)

FP3:
Fernando still on top, but Max left something on table final corner, so feel he is just ahead (of course no idea about engine/fuel)
Mercedes no tire warm-up issues like last night and closed the gap. Have to wait and see if they can get that performance out of tire when it is cooler tonight and which rear wing they will choose, both drivers FP3 different configuration (higher downforce or not)
Ferrari with some set-up chances, based on them doing some long run laps, to improve their poor wear from yesterday (looked better), also there or there about.
Slight gap to midfield, looks like a battle between Alpine and Mclaren. Nice to see Piastri making progress after yesterday, when he was well behind Lando.
Hope gaps stay the same for tonight (not just at the front, midfield also close) and we have a fantastic season with 4 teams, yes 4 teams battling it out week by week. (I know it is race 1 and a rear limited track, but man can dream).
