I wonder in the history of the sport, how many great cars never had their real potential exposed because of weak drivers
Because, I mean, if Vettel stayed at Aston with Stroll, no way this team would even be getting podiums
Alonso the key

Monaco is so last week, new RaceWeek: R8-Spanish GP
Was gonna say back to the old Barca lay-out, but for you young lads it is probably a new one. From turn 12, no more slow right and chicane, but two fast (flat-out?) right handers and only Fernando might remember them from his earlier F1 days. Makes the track even more a left front tire killer, so lot of tire management and a 2 stop on the menu (?).
So RBR top favourite and rest depending on how well updates work, best guess fight between Fernando and Lewis for final step. Aston good race pace, Mercedes looked good on its front tires in Mellbourne. Ferrari eats tires so far this season, so can see them struggle in the race. And how well will the Alpine update work here in Spain, they did look good last race, would be nice if they closed gap a bit.
Midfield, Haas no slow corners, so that will help them, Alfa was good last year, does not look a prime McLaren track, AT need their new floor to work, Williams ??

FP1:
F1 without Max is close. Busy 1st session, some new Pirelli tire test for today and tires good for one quick lap, so Sergio further behind. And for the rest, we will see a more representative order in FP2, but for now goNyck.

FP2:
Everyone few more laps and gaps smaller. Max bit of moment in S3 (0.1), Lewis bigger (0.3/4) slide and Lando sector times look good, but overall time not so must have had some "prob" on fast lap. [edit] Lewis ran medium downforce rearwing, so no error but probably rears overheating and sliding. Max had issue with ERS deployment, so gap prob 2 tenths bigger than it looked like today.
Longruns haven't see all lap times yet, but gap with Max bigger, Fernando looked OK as always, Ferrari looked lot better, not as much tire deg and if they can keep that up they might be fighting with Fernando. Merc/Alpine looked a little bit slower, so few tenths to find (or PU/Fuel)
Hulk fast lap was top, hope they can do that tomorrow as well and keep the tires somewhat alive

Always amazes me that in Europe events don't give a F#@@ and go on, were as in the other side of the pond this would have been everyone to the shelters. Sargeant crash and now more rain, so maybe few test laps on inters/wet for later
Is this about Gunther complaining about Hulk penalty Monaco?

One or two laps at the beginning in dry, Logan off and drizzle after that. Alpines only ones on mediums at beginning.
