By Vini.lad Go To PostMax only 3s behind Perez on harder compound starting on 9thYeah truly incredible
Another level
Winning this quite easily
So now the American entertainment will continue 💀
Considering my expectations for Miami that was a decent race. Plenty of overtakes and some interesting variance in strategy between medium and hard starters

By Lunatic Go To PostMax really is the best of this new genSome impressive drivers and talents but yeah he's just clear
By FootbalIFan Go To PostSome impressive drivers and talents but yeah he's just clearIt definitely helps that he had to compete against Hamilton in his prime which is arguably the GOAT of F1 in the better car. Max just has that edge and again because he competed against Hammy he has been conditioned to not make mistakes. Dude is a machine.
All-time greats tend to have their own era of dominance and we're in the Verstappen era right now
And frankly, with the amount of "GOAT" get thrown around, the word has lost it's meaning. F1 is a relative sport. It's very had to point to one single person as a GOAT when all the variables change every few years.

By MF Coom Go To PostAll-time greats tend to have their own era of dominance and we're in the Verstappen era right nowI agree, I was just being hyperbolic. Comparing different eras is next to impossible as there are so much variables that go into making a driver achieve greatness. But we can all say Hamilton is one of the all time greats.

Only Leclerc, Russell and Norris have the capacity of fighting Max right now on this field. They need much better cars tho
Generational talents are exactly that and you do see that very early on. Lucky enough to have few years of MotoTv (in blurry 720p) so you could see Lewis in F3 and GP2 (eurosport) and how much better at times he was, both speed and car control and there are still few moves/races that I can remember.
Then a large period of just good and the stories about Jos his kid doing amazing things in karting came a long. First saw Max in Ferrari winter series and then straight to F3 and again the things he pulled of, overtakes, car control and some of the races in the wet (Norisring weekend for example) were just plain ridiculous.
What I do find interesting is, how many very good drivers around them (1-2 years) enter the sport at the same time. Saw that with Lewis a large group, best probably Nico/Robert enter sport and now with Max also. Feel they they were all forced to keep up at very young age and got better than they would have been without that special talent around.....Or maybe just coincidence ;)
To complete weekend, standings:
