By Not Go To PostZombies, manHuge W for HBO and Sony/PlayStation and NaughtyGods

zombies that can run is always going to be the secret sauce for tension, the Walking dead turned them into a minor annoyance and needed characters to do incredibly stupid things to get killed by them. Once kids started casually walking up on zombies with no fear it was over.

By Not Go To PostI just know I'd rather have TV critics and audiences calling me a genius every sunday for ten weeks than *gamers* calling me a woke r-word for four straight yearsYou think YouTube "critics" won't react the same way to season 2's story? Lol
Edit: Mazin said they want to adapt Part II over season 2 and 3.

Yeah, can see them splitting the game when Ellie goes to live at the farm (and move a lot of the seraphist stuff to there if they keep it)

I bet the writers are tight they can't use any slang from after 2003. No abandoned PS3s sitting in rooms anymore
I think it's clearly more interesting to set the show in an alternate present rather than the future though. Mazin's call I'll bet

great episode. much better than the first one, too. opening scene set the mood perfectly (great acting). clickers were tense.
druckmann truly leading the way.
i’m actually impressed.
this is easily one of the very best zombie-related thing out there. and it’s only going to get better… i’m all in.

I thought episode 2 was even better than episode 1, that in itself is a feat because episode 1 was amazing.

It’s funny watching all these non gamers in my office / family life discuss this show. Like even my mom is watching and thinks it’s great

No not at all, but I do chuckle some as many of these people trivialize gaming. Most of these people do not respect gaming as a medium to tell stories yet they’re all engrossed by a story from a game lol.

Last of Us is a pretty conventional story though; it’s not as if it’s particularly gamey. It isn’t Ico or Final Fantasy or Metal Gear or Kirby or some shit

That’s my point I guess. Gaming is more than just that now but that’s all they see. Like my parent can’t get passed the 8-bit 80’s. The story doesn’t have to be ground breaking since they don’t think any game can tell a story like a show can
Shit .. I can’t remember the last western story I liked as much as I like red dead 1 & 2

All these nerds complaining about the kiss. It was great, get over it, the podcast even explains it in detail to the how/why.

The podcast is really good. I love all the behind the scenes talk, the explanation behind some shots.
One of my favourite parts of this week's episode was Neil Druckmann saying how he got a bit emotional to have a crew of people so talented that wanted to spend almost a year shooting this show because they loved the story.
While I don't agree with those articles that claim that The Last Of Us broke the video game adaption curse, it most definitely has elevated the quality not of the the material being adapted but of the people behind the scenes.
Craig Mazin had the chance to pick any of Playstation's franchise after his award winning run for Chernobyl and he picked The Last Of Us.
It was denied at first because Druckmman was doing it but they ended up meeting and working together.
The cast includes people who worked on some of the biggest TV and movie franchises, it's not shocking if the show ends up getting nominations next year.
It definitely raises the stakes for the upcoming Amazon, Netflix and Peacock's adaptions of Playstation's IPs.

The show is a hit with the non gamers in my life. My wife is probably the biggest TLOU fan I know, watched me play part 1 remake and part 2 back to the back. Part 2 is her favorite piece of media since Game of Thrones. She loved the first two episodes. Is the curse broken, or is it simply a great marriage of talented people and great source material?

I'm enjoying this, but if I'm completely honest, I don't know how additive it is to an already extremely familiar (and well done) story.
Like, these scenes at the start regarding the origins of the outbreak and significance of a fungal pandemic... meh. I never much cared or questioned it in the grand scheme of things.
It's very well done though and I can imagine quite compelling for someone who hasn't been exposed to TLOU.

ellie is a ghost and joel says to sarah ‘sarah i am ur father’ and it’s all set on shutter island

With all 4 chapters split into seasons.
The transition to television is very easy.

What I want to know - How they gonna pull of Bella Ramsey getting more physically intimidating? She is incredibly small, and while Ellie wasn't tall in the game, she wasn't 5'1" either.

Get to watch incels cry a out their digital daddy a 2nd time, can't wait.

yeah, i don't think that's going to work unless they recast her.

By Cleff Go To PostCan't wait for another coterie of incels to melt down over Abby being buff.
Jade Cargill as Abby would lead to the internet shutting down, we need it.
Apparently Abby started out as being black too.
