Hearing about all the shootings/killings in the Bronx and the one recently off Fordham reminded me of when I was in College. I grew up right outside the BX and as we got older, we started hanging out in the BX more since that's where the girls were. Anyway, we were on winter break and were on Fordham rd just chilling going in and out of stores hoping to see some girls we'd like, we went into this one small place right off the main strip and were in there for a few mins talking to the girls that worked there.
This kid who goes to our school comes in and recognized me, we started talking and it was all cool. This is somebody who was always talking about how real he was when we're at school, how live his block was and how he got active, he didn't look like that type of person, but I never said bullshit or anything and we'd play basketball together. People at school were always getting on him about stuff because he was short & overweight, but it never seemed to bother him. We finished talking, he daps me up and as we're leaving he said I was lucky I was his mans, anyone from the school he didn't like was in for a buck 50 & trip to Montefiore...I thought he was joking until I seen the 20-30 dudes outside that he was with just waiting, they were not out looking to make friends.
I have no doubt they would have beat the shit out of us, I heard a few of them ask "who that" aggressively to him and he just said "we cool". The Bronx is a jungle.

That's wild man. Bronx is so fucking weird, too. The contrast between the Zoo right next door and the yuppies and families (me included) that go to the Zoo versus sections of it a few blocks over where you hear of stories like that is mind-bending to a degree. Glad you're safe though.

They started gentrifying parts of Mott Haven, the deegan is acting like a natural barrier between all the luxury apartments and the projects being less than a half mile away. Hunts point will be next, anywhere the road/highway can cut down the middle will be getting the same treatment.
Yea ever since the new Yankee stadium propped up I imagine gentrification was on the table to connect it to the rest of Manhattan
gone off the drank forgive me Pac. My evening:
Did the thing where my son's current best friend's parents invited us over this evening. Good food. Good drinks. Good time. Officially washed.

We closed on our house a few months back, lucky enough to be able to fund it ourselves. The last few weeks my parents have been trying to give us money towards the mortgage, it’s real sweet, but I have no idea what the fuck got in to them.
My dad is past retirement age (but still works because he got bored of being retired) and my mum isn’t far off, but it’s impossible to tell Indians to keep the money for themselves and retire in comfort.
I think they refuse to be ok with the fact that we’re doing well and can handle it

They’re great, and have been really helpful with DIY stuff since we moved, but they refuse to believe we’ve got it, and that they can take the money and relax

By reilo Go To PostVent if you need to. But glad you found an avenue to talk. A good first step.Agreed with both. Hope the best for you!
Cat hasn't been well recently and we're about to take her to the vet. Wish me luck, but I've got that anxiety and looming dread that we're going to get bad news.
So she's got a tumour in her abdomen and a lot of fluid swelling because her liver isn't functioning correctly. Got some pills and stuff to help her liver and bring the fluid down, but we're essentially going to be managing her comfort until the tumour causes her pain or her liver fully gives in. Vet said they could do an ultrasound > surgery but it's slim af that it would be successful.
Bit shit, really.

Let's hope the medication will have it's desired effect m8. Give you the time to atleast make her comfortable.
Correct. Wife and I are both clear we don’t ever want kids, so no point in using temporary forms of birth control when there is something even easier out there.

3.7 billion years of beautiful evolutionary history. Your genome has survived untold numbers of mass extinctions, including 5 in the past 500 million years. It has outlived the dinosaurs and the woolly mammoth, persevering through the eons and you decide it can fuck right on off
Goddammit.
Unrelated, maybe I should at least make a deposit at a sperm bank or something.

By Lunatic Go To PostDon't think I've heard of a man getting a vasectomy by 30I’ll be 32 in January and the average age seems to be mid to late 30’s for men in urban areas. Not too out of the norm

tbf though we'll almost certainly lose the series, or draw which is basically a loss anyway
By Perfect Blue Go To PostHas anyone here gotten a vasectomy? Might be on the cards next few months.2 of my friends had it done.
A few days of discomfort but after that no more issues. In and out in less than an hour.
By Daz Go To PostOh man, that is awful.
It is, but it's part of having a pet, unfortunately.

Seeing positive movement on her water retention already and she's eating, so that's good so far. Still moving like she's a drowsy but we'll see how that pans out over the coming days with further meds and an increased appetite.

The biggest of hugs.

By Lunatic Go To PostJust to be clear I wasn't trying to judge it's just something that I only ever heard of people doing in their mid to late 40s.For sure bro no judgment taken. I was also surprised to learn about the age variance. They tend to have at least one kid when doing it though.
