By C4-621 Go To PostTurning a dumb franchise like Uncharted into a character drama and ending Nate's story was a mistake huh lmfaoIt was already on the way out with Uncharted 3 for me.
1 & 2 were good fun though. Still medium mad that the PC port was for 4 instead of 1/2/3.
By Laboured Go To PostI wonder how many years it'll be until they eventually have some big shitty franchise licence forced upon them because the money offered to Sony was too good to pass up.Wow what did Spider-Man ever do to you
TLOU2 plays so well that I think it's pretty daft to expect that their next game will have mediocre gameplay

By Laboured Go To PostActually quite looking forward to what IO can do with Bond. Seems a very good fit.
Big fan here but the built in limitations of the character means I’m very skeptical, they can’t simply reskin Hitman. And there’s a ton of moments I associate with James Bond that I can’t see them pulling off at all.
And it’s being developed and published by I.O? Yeah I don’t know about that.

Sure, he's got limitations but even with the open-ended nature of the Hitman games, they're able to make exciting missions with good disguises etc

The important thing is they don't ever bother with vehicle action scenes / chases, because they are all bad (in the Bond movies and in most video games).
By Freewheelin Go To PostWhy not? Sure, he's got limitations but even with the open-ended nature of the Hitman games, they're able to make exciting missions with good disguises etc
Well you can kill everyone in Hitman, that’s not happening, and the game is really about how you kill your targets. Which makes sense since it’s in the name.
But with James Bond there’s gotta be more? At least traditionally you would expect a variety of action to be on display, along with the meat and bones stealth. Even if you take out car chases, you would still expect on foot chases.
I think generally speaking most people who play Bond games are hoping for some kind of shooter instead of the open, infiltration/assassination puzzle game that is the Hitman franchise.
They pretty much perfected the formula already, so while there's a ton of stuff they could lift, I do wonder how they approach that expectation without just doing a reskin; if they plan to marry that kind of gameplay with shooter sections and cinematic set pieces for example.

oh yeah, that was quick.
By DY_nasty Go To PostAll this talk just makes me want another Alpha Protocol 😔Great idea but piss poor execution. I wanted to love it and it felt like the game wanted me to hate it
By DY_nasty Go To PostAll this talk just makes me want another Alpha Protocol 😔Isn't it in the Deadly Premonition zone? Make it less janky and you lose what made it special, keep it janky and it seems like it's trying to be bad, which is a surefire way to actually be complete worthless shit.
Alpha Protocol was dope but I hated the gunplay being directly tied to how good your stats were. Idk what they were thinking there.

By NiceGuy Go To PostHow did it work? Bullets just going well off target, massive recoil, less damage?Yeah pretty much. Felt so bad to play unless you pumped stats into the weapons IIRC.
Feel like people have a lot of fondness for how messy both of them are, though Alpha Protocol seems to have things about it that are actually ambitious and well executed tbf judging by the way people talk about the branching story.
Think i only ever watched a GiantBomb quick look of it

By Perfect Blue Go To PostI don’t at all see the comparison between Deadly Premonition and Alpha Protocol lol.
yeah. deadly premonition had way better gameplay.
Nah, I can see why you'd think that but it's a different kind of jank. While you can point to similar strengths (characters and narrative), AP with polished gameplay would still be a much better game. Replayed it a few years ago and it's rough, not in a charming way. DP on the other hand is just weird and imaginative enough (or steals just the right amount of it I guess) that you come to accept the awful gameplay as part of the charm.
kinda the same with Mass Effect 1, but I can see why people don't like it when you point at thing and it doesn't die unless stats. I just think those people are wrong.

Rvy, Alan Wake 2 is pretty cool so far.
But its a supernatural story so it might just build up to a really stupid conclusion who knows
Visually its so fucking nice and they do some fancy Control shit

Alpha Protocol was basically just Mass Effect 1, but trading an even worse gunplay implementation for a much better story + choice/consequence system

@Alan Wake 2
So impressed. At first I was annoyed that Sam Lake's mug was following me around but then he started acting like Max Payne and I dont want him to ever leave me AGAIN 😭

alright lads, that basically settles it: aw2 is next.
but first, i need to finally finish ragnarok. i vow to never stop playing a game before i finish it. picking it up after practically a year.
i'm at the bit where you get the spear and find out brok died.

Yurt, please don’t be afraid to hit me up with any beginner model building questions:
30 Minute Mission kits are quick builds with interchangeable gear. So, yes, you will be able to collect all the parts to build your favorite in-game configuration.

alan wake 2 runs great, while also looking really fucking good. loving the attention to details when exploring some of the early stuff (like the police station).
just really liking the locations and so on as well, feels like a place i want to explore more of. also gotten spooked a few times already, especially with the sudden cuts to real footage or whatever the fuck it is those split seconds.
some things that is already a turn off only a few hours in however, is the massive handholding. You're not allowed to think for yourself for one second so far, you are told what to do to progress, and what the solution is to everything. which is something i thought they made a big deal out of not being the case. maybe it changes later.
but i guess why bother with investigating, when you can just go into the brain of whoever you meet. guy almost says they found something, but is cut off by his partner... should i ask them what they found right there, after them clearly already being on edge about it, or should i go into their brain to realize they found something. just doesn't feel satisfying if all you have to do is watch a quick cutscene, then put some clues on a wall.
The dialogue between the characters also seems very unnatural most of the time, and not in an intentional way, and the way they build up the characters just isnt good. 'that cup refers to me as a mother. yes i am a mother. i gave birth to a child. that is why i am a mother' or just the inner dialogue when finding clues, 'that is a piece of paper. it is on the ground close to this crime scene. i should investigate it, cause it might have something to do with this. i am doing this cause i am investigating the crime scene'. it might not be that bad, but the complete lack of subtlety is pretty funny, you dont have to spell everything out lads.
i see potential for some proper spooks and intense combat. the positives do outweigh the negatives so far, just surprised no more have mentioned the negatives. but i guess at least the handholding is seen as a positive by many.
oh yeah they did. but david cage also furiously masturbated while watching se7en when making heavy rain

The handholding is annoying, I felt like I was being punished for exploring sometimes too. Less so with Wake though! He's far more interesting to play

it's wooden's ability
Just finished the second chapter of Alan Wake 2. Wooden is dead right about the scare factor. I've jumped up a few times after only an hour of playing.
One thing I really like is that so far there have been very few Taken to fight. The sound design and visuals have been so good that there's a sense of dread with every snapped twig or gust of wind.

Here are some useful .ini edits for Alan Wake 2. Disable vignette, FOV increase, add DLSS sharpening, etc.
Also, change "m_bUnlockAspectRatio" to true for full-ish ultrawide support.
