By Kibner Go To PostYeah, FF XVI is really good at exposing the underwhelming cooling capabilities of the launch PS5 in less than ideal circumstances. I’m honestly surprised it is so poor that it actually has caused game crashes, but that is a thing that has historically happened with FF XVI on it.I’m saying nothing but lmao
@Vapes, we are vindicated in our skepticism of the case and cooler design!
By Hentai Samurai Go To Postvapes said it was LIES on my behalf
he should answer for his crimes
Only called bullshit on having the console horizontal or vertical changing the cooling performance.
Is this why lords of the fallen is crashing for me now?
I'm at the last boss. I dunno why they feel the need to include an Anor Londo/Milan Cathedral in these games

By Crusher Go To PostHave you ever cleaned the PS5s vents? It's a brand new PS5.
It’s weird to me because it didn’t crash once. At least I don’t remember. It’s a day 1 unit too.
I think it was a bad game install, didn't think it was performance related. It would freeze during basic dialog scenes while the music was playing or hard crash while using the menu. None of those are performance related crashes, I think it's the game. Hopefully it's nothing worse like bad memory.
The PS5 has been dead quiet unlike the PS4 Pro.
FF16 crashed my PS5 in one of the Garuda fights.
I was expecting it to in the Odin fight with the spells I was using at the same time but somehow it trucked through. It was definitely struggling to keep up though.
Those were the only real performance issues I ran into.

jim ryan lads this is what u get
I deleted the game files and reinstalled it last night and it stopped doing it, but I only played for a few minutes more so I'll see as I proceed.
Before the reinstall it kept crashing on a brand new cutscene over and over again around the same part.

By reilo Go To PostAlso it's not lost on me that Vapes is diagnosing cancer when it's actually an ankle sprain smhI’m innocent I swear. In fact I sympathise with your troubles. I too, have been effected by crashes lately. I had to download a specific version of proton to get Arkham Asylum to run on my Deck.

I definitely have an anti-Sony bias but it’s not because I prefer other platforms, I’m just disappointed in them/their decisions. That and their exclusives on the whole don’t really appeal to me anymore.
They’re still GOATs for giving the green light to Returnal and the Demon’s Souls remake.
By DY_nasty Go To Postand shoutout to starfield for helping people appreciate everything that cyberpunk got right lolOn what I imagine to be a much smaller scale, I randomly clicked on a cutscene comparison between the two on the exact same maguffin and CP2077 handled it so fucking well and it was intense whereas Starfield plays its plotpoints exactly the way I envisioned them to -- a boring ass dialog tree with little to no excitement.

Nothing wrong with having preferences (everybody does) on where you like to play.

By reilo Go To PostI just found out Vapes thinks Starfield is great, don't know if we can trust him
you trusted him when he thought Fallout 76 was great?
On a serious note, the thing that I actually laughed about reading Slaent's impressions of Starfield is the fact that reviewers still only partially review games. Not shocking at all but reading all about the bugs and glitches a bit deeper into the game made me chuckle.
I'm about to give up on Starfield because my quest marker just does it's own thing totally unrelated to quest I selected.
By Crusher Go To PostI respect Bethesda for looking at the stars in the sky and thinking “walking simulator”One small step for man

The setting does a lot of heavy lifting initially, it's space, it's sci-fi etc.
But then you realise everything, from gameplay AI, level design, dialog, story, levelling etc feels like Bethesda is stuck 2 generations back. You got all these planets but the games feels smaller than skyrim because there's really fucking nothing to do. And then you get quests where you go half-way across the galaxy via 3 menus to talk to someone, only to have to travel back to where you got the quest. Like bruh in a sci-fi setting where you can't just do the quest, send a DM to the quest giver that it's done and carry on with your shit?
There's no real sense of exploration because most outposts/bases/refineries are just cut and paste everything, down to where the loot and enemies are. Feels like you're just travelling a moebius strip and coming back on yourself.
Honestly the more I talk about starfield the lower i rate it. Solid 5/10 now. Bang average overall and in a bunch of areas, massively outdated everywhere else. AI dumber than half-life and that came out in the 90s

and for the record, i like dragon age 2 - but i dont think its great either
By pkaz01 Go To PostStarfield was a chore, I just could not get into it no matter what I didI felt this way about all prior Bethesda games. Their storylines and plot points are so uninteresting and secondary that I didn't have a desire to continue on. I also found their gameplay janky most of the time and I am not a "run around and explore vast open wilderness to fight monsters" type of player.
Actually, on that last statement, to a degree. I think World of Warcraft got this balance right and kept me wanting to do both, but it's also a bit of an apple-to-oranges comparison.
By DY_nasty Go To Poststarfield is very okay
in a year full of spectacular games
I enjoyed it but it doesn’t touch the top 5 for this year.
I think Bethesda made some really big improvements with it over their previous games. However, other developers have fucking lapped Bethesda in most areas of game design.
All Bethesda really have to set them apart is they really nail a sense of exploration. One area Starfield really lacks in compared to their previous games.
By DY_nasty Go To Postace combat and armored core bykeNormal people just appreciated everything Cyberpunk did from the beginning, and then got rewarded when it got even better.
and shoutout to starfield for helping people appreciate everything that cyberpunk got right lol
And we can make room to appreciate Starfield from the get go too. Stuff like having to work for your power is something people have been asking for since Skyrim.
Struggling against 3 enemy ships early on, then coming back after specializing in piloting, targeting systems, particle weapons and fighting a dozen pirate ships 15 levels above you with that new ship it took you several hours to design just right is special.
You'll see.

I'm still not sure what to say really, nothing changed for me. Ultimately if you play these games because you enjoy exploring and mapping dungeons, you'll absolutely like this. But if you're looking for tight combat and creative boss fights, this isn't it. Nothing is outright bad or anything though.
Lies of P isn't really that much better, in fact the levels were mostly bang average and painfully linear, but I lean towards its combat and fresh setting more.
So I guess it depends on your type of Souls itch lol
Fuming
