The centerpiece of the soiree mission was a long, tense dialogue puzzle where I had to earn the trust of a pair of deliciously awful French twins while playing high stakes roulette. I had to engage, provoke, and eventually befriend the international con artists all while I watched my FIA (Cyberpunk future CIA)-provided funds dwindle away. Shoulda bet on black. At the last minute I chose a particularly inflammatory and insulting dialogue option and my handler pre-emptively chewed me out over the radio, but the little freaks absolutely ate it up. Maybe I am cut out for this superspy stuff.
I always enjoyed Cyberpunk's smaller side quests or "gigs," too. Many are simple but enjoyable "go here and kill everyone as fits your playstyle" deals, but some of them felt more like full-on side stories with voice acting, a twist, and maybe even a gameplay curveball.
Phantom Liberty's gig additions firmly fall into the latter camp, and I loved each one. A rescue operation for an underworld doctor gets complicated by his history of unsavory practices in one gig, while another sees you infiltrating the youth sports academy of the future, specializing in cybernetically enhanced 12-year-olds.
My favorite tasked me with helping out a pair of hapless chucklefuck detectives caught with their proverbial pants down in Dogtown and panicking for their lives. I felt like Harvey Keitel swooping in to save the day as the Wolf in Pulp Fiction, and the entire thing had this slapstick absurdity from beginning to end that I adored.
I am finally going to play through cyberpunk 3 years later.

I do not believe that that is what the future Xbox business would look like. This is a presentation from our devices organization to the gaming leadership team, so this is the view from the team that is chartered with building our hardware on what the future business would look like.
I can fairly safely say that if we do not make more progress than this off of console, we would exit the gaming business. If this were the outcome, we would – I don't believe we'd still be in the business.
A majority of our customers are found off of our own hardware, I would hope by earlier than 2030. So, when you asked me if I agreed with this chart that the light green and blue depending on what colors you see there would have to be much larger much earlier. I would say by FY26, '27 that we should be in that position, or we'd have to make a different decision with the business.

Ray Reconstruction, while still part of DLSS, is not necessarily about increasing performance, but it certainly does at the high-end. Where the path tracing mode of the game needs a lot of GPU resources, it utilises a lot of denoisers in the pipeline. With that step gone, I was seeing a serious boost in performance with the RTX 4090 I was using to test the feature.
On Overdrive, with the path tracing tech demo at 4K, and with DLSS set to Quality and Frame Generation set on, I was getting 69 fps on average. But with Ray Reconstruction enabled that leapt up to 103 fps simply from ditching that denoising step. That makes Ray Reconstruction an absolute must for high-end GPUs running ray tracing.

In any case, pretty excited to play it. Looks like it also got a new ending that incorporates the events of Phantom Liberty, so a whole new playthrough is the way to go.
It irks me a bit when the PS5 hard-locks and then I get a message telling me that I should have turned the console off properly.

Yeah I think he's talking about the Cerny talk when they revealed the hardware, even DF at the time was saying Xbox had an advantage because of the teraflops. Though that turned out to be utter crap in reality.

Depends on how you look at it. Does superior hardware make for superior console? Absolutely not. Usually the weaker/cheaper console outsells everything as long as it has the games and markets to back it up.
Does superior hardware lead to better ports of multiplatform games? Usually yeah. That’s held true this gen too. It’s just that nobody really cares about small differences in image quality which is all it mostly amounts to now. With all the temporal AA solutions, upscaling methods and so on. The difference between 2160p and 1900p just aren’t very noteworthy.

I can turn on my Xbox right now and resume Pentiment from last year exactly where I left off, or Red Dead Redemption from 6 months ago, or my Plants vs Zombies endless run to try get my last achievement.
But two of those games I listed aren’t even from this gen or last gen. The other Xbox game I’m playing is from the OG Xbox and unfortunately isn’t available on Quick Resume
