Remember when PSN died for weeks like the day after Socom came out
Don't think the game was very good anyway, but still.

iirc the enemies in Resistance 1 & 2 (never played 3) weren't particularly spongey, the games were just a bit one-note and one-paced imo
Aiming wasn't as snappy as you want it to be when playing an FPS with a controller as well, like Infamous Second Son it was quite easy to go well past the point I was trying to aim at because the acceleration and auto-aim wasn't quite right.

Nah, Resistance 1 definitely had bullet sponge enemies. I never played 2. I did play 3 and honestly now, I really can’t remember anything notable about it. Literally zilch beyond knowing I definitely played it.
Always heard that 3 was much better than the first 2, but the people saying that gave me the same vibes as those who'd pretend that Folkore and Gravity Rush were good.
Why do I have to talk to a real person to cancel a PSN preorder? Guess it's related to the fact it takes the money out of your accoutn when you place the order, but I don't really know why it does that either.

I liked Gravity Rush, the novelty of it at least. Folklore though, yeah I got nothing for that one. CeX gave me good money for it a couple years ago at least.
Resistance 1 only had bullet sponge enemies with the basic weapons. They were built to be tough so you would use the alt fire of all the different weapons instead of just sticking with the default rifles. Even on the hardest difficulty it was fairly easy to take down dudes once you got the sniper rifle that could slow down time
I got the platinum trophy for resistance 2. Probably the longest I've grinded to get a play. The 10k mp kills and coop trophies were awful.
I don't know if that game was decent or trash. I just remember this

I see a crazy amount of praise for the third game. Want to play it but can’t be arsed to dig out the PS3 and a copy.
Resistance 3 really was excellent. The other two were pretty pap - 2's multiplayer had a charm to it but both campaigns were crap.
A Crack in Time and R3... Insomniac nearly had me fooled that they had become a top tier developer for a few years.

Maybe this will mean something to someone, no idea why they were so secretive about it.
For the mech and weapon designs they brought in Shoji Kawamori, Kazutaka Miyatake (Studio Nue), Takyuki Yanase, Ikuto Yamashita among others. Ghost in the Shell, Evangelion, Macross, some Gundams etc
Maybe I need closure

It was fun. Just proper trashy fun. I liked it. We need more games with robot enemies that you can shoot their legs off and still have them crawl at you like the fucking Terminator.
By s y Go To PostI don't know if that game was decent or trash. I just remember thisIt's not very good. It toned down a lot of the wackier aspects of the first game in favor of a very grim and gritty vibe, got rid of the weapon wheel and discouraged player experimentation, and is full of some pretty lousy encounter design and one hit kill enemies.
Resistance 3 is quite good, though.
I can believe the Resistance talk.
I played a bit of the first when the system launched but didn't think anything of it.
Never touched the second game.
Beat the shit out of third game back in May.
Insomniac should stick to R&C and pray they keep turning out hits with Marvel IPs because they really struggle with writing characters.
The lead Joe is largely a mute and the campaign is your basic wack-a-mole alien shooter with a few space guns that you'll rarely use because the basic human autos are just better at getting the job done.
The game itself is not bad. It just does nothing new, interesting and takes no risks with its mechanics, level design or storytelling in anyway. It's as solid a 7 as you could ever ask for from a FPS.

By NiceGuy Go To PostIs there no way to play Splinter Cell Blacklist on PS5?Now that's a fucking game. Bravo. A shame it released in the same window as Last of Us and then GTA V. It got swallowed up.

I bought it again on steam years ago. Might give it another go. In terms of trashy third person shooters of that era, I preferred it over Vanquish.

I had a blast with games like Inversion, Dark Void, Time Shift, Syndicate, and The Darkness.

Never played it :(
Didn't like Double Agent, hated the look of Conviction, had other stuff to play when it came out and by the time I wanted to play it I'd already sold my PS3.
Surprised they didn't do a cheap remaster job for PS4 with it coming out at the arse end of the PS3's lifecycle.

By NiceGuy Go To PostNever played it :(I'm not a huge fan of the series myself, but I did get into the HD Trilogy of the original three games and those are pretty good. Each one gets better than the last and there's a clear progression in game play improvements.

Blacklist has nothing in common with those previous games at all outside of the name Splinter Cell. They literally revamped and overhauled the entire gameplay style. It's much more modern and fluid. I really enjoyed the stealth and then I really, really enjoyed the outright violence of going through the missions loud with all the weapons.
It's surprising it's literally the last game in the series at this point. It must have sold shit.
I liked Conviction more but Blacklist was good. Fate robbed us of Sam The Hobo though and I will never get over it.
Chaos Theory is one of the best games I've ever played
Can tell they put months of work into the level design and enemy placements. Really hope they remake it with original soundtrack and voice acting.

By NiceGuy Go To PostI have no idea how long games took to develop at that point tbh
12 months wasn’t uncommon back then, iirc
neither do i tbh. just seems like the kind of thing you have to keep re-designing as you go along, and tweak gameplay.
but my view is skewed from being really into lionhead games back then. where everything took a million years.

GF bought me AC6. First time ever playing a game in the series. Tutorial boss took me six tries, but on that sixth try, I finally got the hang of it. Only used one repair kit, and I didn't even really take enough total damage to even need it. Cool fight.
These look pretty cool, if you are a Sonic fan: https://pdp.com/pages/realmz-collection
They are controllers (and one headset) with fun artwork and also a figure inside the the clear casing.
