I feel like I'm going crazy for erring more on the side of thinking that gameplay looked pretty unimpressive and perhaps outdated than I do giving a shit about artistic intent or any of that bollocks.
Then again, there was never really a scenario where anything came out to make me want to play a mech game. Assume the genre has never been at the forefront of providing graphical powerhouses the way the clip implies.

There's a ton of little stuff going on in AC combat that you genuinely wouldn't notice unless you're a regular or have some past exposure to the series.
