By inky Go To PostLet's be real, if Sony announced their rumored cloud portable today and release it this year, they'd immediately become the biggest player in cloud (in terms of users), but it would still just be a bonus for them. Right now it's a side market, and the CMA's conclusion that they should nip it in the bud because it could be the only way of the future is dumb af. They just want to block it, which is fine to admit, it's just their own facts don't support their conclusions.
Is this based on Sony's stellar track record in handhelds, cloud, or services?
but you see poor underdog MS needs to be able to buy and control everything if they want to compete.
By Crusher Go To PostInky the EC accepts a remedy in which MS keeps all the revenue from the games. Competing cloud platforms won’t make any revenue off of them. This doesn’t make any sense, and MS doesn’t apply that logic with their own platforms. You mean the competing cloud platforms that signed those deals and are happy with them? It seems to work for them, so that's why the EC accepted the remedies. MS keeps the revenue in those deals in particular because like Geforce NOW they allow you to stream games you already own (as in, purchased in battle net or steam or wherever) for free (GFN has a free tier and a paid tier), not because MS will get every cent from every game ever streamed. That makes no sense.
Is the EC under the impression that MTX on Xcloud goes 100% to the developers? This seems like an incredibly poor reading of the industry.
The free license is for people to be able to stream freely from any service, basically services pulling customers with their own stuff.
By JesalR Go To PostIs this based on Sony's stellar track record in handhelds, cloud, or services? They seem to be doing alright for themselves.
By Laboured Go To PostI downloaded the demo but never played it on the PSVR2. Will do that later today.
By JesalR Go To PostIs this based on Sony's stellar track record in handhelds, cloud, or services? You best not be talking shit about the Vita
By inky Go To PostThey seem to be doing alright for themselves.I'm home consoles and home consoles only, basically everything else they've done has been middling to downright bad
By Pedja Go To PostYou best not be talking shit about the VitaSadly so, loved the hardware, absolute mess of software support
By JesalR Go To PostI'm home consoles and home consoles only, basically everything else they've done has been middling to downright badI'm not saying they'd outright be the same position as in console, I'm saying cloud is a non-entity atm and if they entered it right now they'd be no worse than anyone else, probably lead the space in users. So CMA saying MS would be instant winners and make it a monoply is dumb.
With all of the different platforms, store fronts and services it's getting nearly impossible to keep track of the games I own/have access to. Is there a service that keeps track of this?

By Kibner Go To PostI've played like 4 hours of Mechabellum so far, and I really like it.Knowing the counters and such it a little curve but I did all the tutorials and some bot games and I have a grasp on it now.
Still get waxed by real players though but I didn't pay attention to the power rating.

To be fair to Sy, there are levels to all this.
MS sees their venture into gaming as a side project, a venture in which they have failed in. Yet said failure is a small blip on their financials.
Even a small look at the market caps of the big three tells you its not even a fair contest, so when the Megacorp who historically has a bad track record by using their position in the market to kill competition and has in fact been found guilty of anti-competitive behaviour before, suddenly decides to hit the big red button and goes into market consolidation mode of proportions unseen before, it is not at all surprising to see the push back we are witnessing.
Anyone on the side of MS/Xbox in this debate is disingenious in their arguments for said acquisition. Some imagined slights and tactics(which Xbox has, is and will continue to engage in "mah timed exclusivity") by PlayStation or Nintendo does not mean its suddenly okay for MS to go out and rip a massive historically third party publisher away from their competition while pretending that a 10 year contract is some sort of safe guard against the inevitable.
The inevitable being that once these contracts expire, the removal of said content from its main competition is guaranteed and thus sets a precedent going forward in the space.
Hey once this deal closes, MS should go and buy EA, Ubisoft, TakeTwo
Sony should close deals with Capcom, Konami, Square
and Nintendo should go for the Sega and Kadokawa combo
..its all fair you see, in the name of competition. This is a wonderful future indeed.
The arguments constantly go back to the "now" part of the equation. Now Xbox is third, now they can't compete (both their own doing), but the ramifications in the future are some sort of nebolous cloud people struggle to imagine for some reason.

Between the DLC and the mods getting release, I'm set for a while.
