I am considering not playing another Zelda until I play TOTK next month. However my Steam Deck is absolutely loaded with Zelda games now.
I suppose I could play some PS2 classics instead. I’ve got Timesplitters 2 and Sly 2 lined up to play.

The chalice dungeons were spectacularly bad actually 🫣
Was Timesplitters genuinely good? I never bothered back then I was too lost on CS

Man, went down nostalgia lane this morning. Think IV might have had the best music and story, if nothing else it certainly had the best theme song.
Tried a bit of Wartales, interesting game. But I’m going to leave it on the side for a bit and start Anno 1800 which might be more my speed atm. Very excited actually, got the complete edition, any tips? Should I start the campaign or head straight into sandbox mode?
I played a couple of hours of Zelda and got insanely bored so I'm giving Kirby and the Forgotten Land and this is a proper game
One moment of weakness, a canceled cart, and Bandai Namco is forever in your inbox, like an STD.

"Don't forget your loot!"

It looks phenomenal. Love that they reworked old activities like hunts and pilgrimages with it and there's just so much more to do outside of war time.
Tourneys really is the best companion DLC to the previous one; throne rooms with treasure displays.

So basically when this is all done if it goes through and when inevitably MS makes the games exclusive to Xbox in the home console market Sony (or anyone else) can just bypass the exclusivity by making a cloud service for their console?
Ten year term limit and MS gets all the revenue generated by the games. EC with the big save for MS.
By Daz Go To PostThey need approval in all countries. If the block stands, the deal is cancelledOr they just stop doing console/game business in the UK. 🤷
By Kibner Go To PostOr they just stop doing console/game business in the UK. 🤷
That isn't going to happen
so now we have MS/ACT/SONY/CMA all acting like babies and we haven't even gotten to FTC clown show yet (hopefully MS just bought it off and we won't have)
Just more proof the CMA decision was irrational. They want to block it all costs even when the facts don't support their claims.
By Kibner Go To PostOr they just stop doing console/game business in the UK. 🤷The ruling was against Microsoft not Xbox, they'd need to stop all business in the UK, not just gaming I'd imagine
Microsoft aren't dropping their UK business, and while the CMA decision can be appealed they can basically still block for any reason without challenge, so I still think the deal is dead.
They argue that somehow MS is already way ahead in cloud they are basically a monopoly, but also that such a crucial market they are predicting will develop it's too much work for them to monitor it in the future so might as well kill the market before it actually exists lol.

Perfect to kill some time.

saw a video but it was only against AI opponents (looked fun)

And I would know.

But it's fun.

It’s weird how apparently the CMA is the one doing the more technical decision but some act like they are the ones being irrational. Agree or not the CMA is saying MS shouldn’t be able to buy even more ammunition to be able to define pricing in what they themselves believe is the future of gaming.
But somehow opposing that is killing a market? Sounds like nonsense Inky.
Microsoft think cloud is their future, not necessarily the future. They've conceded defeat in the console space, Nintendo is doing their own thing with a hybrid, where one will compete, so MS is looking to carve their own space to their strengths: cloud.
Most platform holders, etc. know that cloud has massive hurdles, latency, etc. but mainly infrastructure (which goes beyond server blades i.e. ISPs worldwide, so no company will ever own it), but more importantly they know it won't replace the traditional console/PC/Mobile markets, just add to them a low barrier of entry alternative which just like mobile might be very big, but won't ever be better than native.
But CMA's conclusions come from the idea that cloud will replace traditional gaming (a market that today represents like 1% of total gaming), thus leaving microsoft the sole winner akin to social media companies with this head start. EUC argues that it will just add to it. And that it can only be achieved with investment to minimize its weaknesses, hence why MS's remedies to offer access to Activision's catalogue to cloud competitors is seen as a bolster to the space, meaning that catalogue access could give every company income to innovate the service in their own way. Even other megacorps like google can't make it work, EU knows that big investment to make it work is needed, and realistically speaking even if MS spearheaded it, they still won't control it because there is more available IP and service models out there than MS could ever own.
Let's be real, if Sony announced their rumored cloud portable today and release it this year, they'd immediately become the biggest player in cloud (in terms of users), but it would still just be a bonus for them. Right now it's a side market, and the CMA's conclusion that they should nip it in the bud because it could be the only way of the future is dumb af. They just want to block it, which is fine to admit, it's just their own facts don't support their conclusions.

Inky the EC accepts a remedy in which MS keeps all the revenue from the games. Competing cloud platforms won’t make any revenue off of them. This doesn’t make any sense, and MS doesn’t apply that logic with their own platforms.
Is the EC under the impression that MTX on Xcloud goes 100% to the developers? This seems like an incredibly poor reading of the industry.
