If I don't use something like that, the game uses a fallback software renderer. Which, lol.
Oh, also, the game has a 30 fps cap. Have to use something like Windower to allow it to go up to 60fps. Due to how the game handles framerate, you have to be at either 30 or 60 fps or you experience slowdown or speedup which can break many of the things in the game.
Hell, just running at 60 fps breaks a small handful (out of thousands) of the cutscenes, forcing you to exit the game (because soft lock), change the fps back to 30, and trigger the cutscene again.
The game is 22 years old and has never had an engine rewrite or upgrade.

Pokemon Emerald Roguelike is truly goat'd. I'm shocked that this isn't like many other romhacks, in terms of quality. This is some of the most fun I've had with the series in years.

Pokémon rom hacks that focus solely on the battle system are indeed GOATed. This is why the best parts of the series are the meta and post game stuff like the Pokemon Frontier. Genuinely think the mechanics and depth of high level Pokémon play is unmatched in terms of RPGs.

It’s really not at all what I expected from a Zelda game. Coming from BOTW, I knew that was quite different from the past games. I had played a bit of OoT3D and ALTTP years ago though, so I had an idea of what makes up a Zelda game.
Link’s Awakening in comparison just feels really whimsical in tone. No big bad or cataclysmic events, just exploring an island, giving brooms to old ladies and getting a fish hook in return.
Reminds a lot of Fantastic Dizzy.

That whimsy is exactly why it's like the only Zelda game I love. It probably also has the most memorable and touching ending of any Zelda game.
