My first PC was an HP Pavilion my mum bought us (for school lol) and it came with a copy of AoE 1, full manual and all, which was still rather new. Before that I had played on stuff like Magic Carpet or Crusader No Remorse and other DOS stuff on an older PC, but AoE 1 was really my first PC game I played top to bottom and had total control over on my own PC. At first I thought it was kinda weird, didn't feel like RTS was my thing and I even thought it was "too educational" to be fun, but the more I got into the campaigns and making custom maps was when it really, and made me get more into other similar clicky games like Warcraft, Red Alert and Diablo.
A couple years later we got another PC (An Acer I won in one of those school vs school TV shows lol) and when AoE 2 came out, I had to get my brother into it so we could play together. He definitely didn't like at first, so I spent hours making custom maps with massive armies and tons of castles and walls, or pit fight scenarios where we put hero units to fight each other arena style. That's when he really got into it, and we just played the shit out custom vs AI maps and VS. That's also where I learned about NO CD cracks, lol. I was having trouble setting up LAN games vs my brother and one guy at school was like, yeah just copy this 3mb folder into the copy in the second computer and it'll work. MAGIC lol.
Those were the days. AoE IV didn't live up to the expectations (Still a decent game, mind), but AoE 2 is just a legendary game. And it's the most popular still. So excited about Mythology (and Red Alert 2 remaster, EA PLS just greenlight the damn thing, I beg you!).
