By Laboured Go To PostInterestingly you can now mod the number of rays (I presume per pixel?) and number of light bounces. Default is 2 rays and 2 bounces.Huh, interesting. 1x bounce, 2x rays is a nice middle ground between psycho and overdrive in terms of performance while looking much closer to the latter. Confidence I'll be able to run this at ~100fps on the 4080 with most settings cranked is at an all time high.
This is running on a 3080.

Watching a bit of RDR2
The general detail and lighting, animal and NPC behaviour, amount of foot traffic and density of vegetation does an unreal job of making it feel like a real place. Just a massive shame that they dropped the ball in some key areas, it's possibly the best world ever made.
Could have been my GOAT if it controlled better and didn't value number of animation frames over playability.

Dungeon changes sound great, though I'm not entirely sure why they needed beta feedback to figure out that there was way too much backtracking through empty rooms.
This is just a personal one, but I'd like it if less of the map was revealed when you go through the overworld. My sense of navigation is too shit to know where I've been unless it's precisely marked, so I'll probably miss a lot of those Lilith statue things.

GTA5 controls are fine.
RDR2 could be annoying but I can count on one hand the amount of times it actually got really frustrating in 100+ hours.
If you want a game that actually controls like shit go play FIFA23 online at peak hours. Every other game will feel like butter.

Original is way better and I suspect others will come around to that once the hype of the remake settles down.
The only thing I'll give the OG, is that movement was better, due to how arcade like the game was: aiming too. Everything else tho, nah. Def wouldn't call either soulless.

Yes I think now that the dust has settled, the original is a better game.
Remake is still a ton of fun to play though. Mercs is sensational... on two of the maps. Fuck the island map.

Off the top of my head there’s a few I really didn’t like. What they did to the mine cart sequence is a travesty, no giant Salazar statue chase, no fire room in the castle, no Garrador cage match, the Novi sewers are gone and they’re in general worse to fight, and the truck sequence being changed into a wrecking ball sequence was nowhere near as good.
Called it, as soon as they went with RES 2 RE gunplay it was over. I’m assuming they did because somebody called it pea shooter, I haven’t played it yet.
Ngl, I think a decent amount of the stuff that is missing is flatout bad, or inconsequential to what I love about the og. I get why people miss some of it though.

Combat wise tho, RE4r is leagues better than the og. You can do to much, in the remake.

I’ve been playing GTA IV this week, first time since it originally released. The gap is graphical presentation between it and GTA V feels larger than the gap between GTA IV and San Andreas.
The character models/animations in cutscenes are so fucked. Yeah it’s got some neat physics interactions not present in V but they completely made the right call going the direction they did with the series and RDR2.
Still a fun game though, missions feel super short and simple. The driving is better in IV than V.

Not played GTA IV in years, but I remember really enjoying just driving around Liberty City. The sound design was excellent.
Liberty City and the driving in 4 are cool as fuck. I tried to replay it on PC a few years back though and stopped playing entirely down to how utterly fucking miserable the game is. It's insane. I didn't mind at the time but coming back to it over a decade(!) later... what the fuck. The hype and eventual praise it got too... jesus.
Village is better in the OG, Castle and Island are better in the remake. Game plays better in the remake too, the sidequest stuff is better etc. I honestly think it's better, but I'll still go back and play the original too. Two spectacular games in their own right.
By Hentai Samurai Go To Postwho's stopping you?I've given the State of Play another watch and it just solidified that FF16 simply isn't my type of game. I'm terrible at action games in the DMC mould. I've zero skill at them and just don't enjoy them. I think the series is taking a turn in a direction I don't care for.
All the trailers I've seen so far just turn me off. I'll read the reviews for FF16 to gauge how it's received. If it's heavy on action and player skill I'll give it a miss.
