I mean I think laughing at the ridiculousness of the events is different than laughing about their deaths? The entire crew should be on the Darwin awards

By WoodenLung Go To Postpeople dying doing very dumb stuff is funny.
extremely rich people dying doing very dumb stuff… is very funny.
especially with it getting all this media attention, with people acting very serious and sad, while we have extreme amounts of migrant boats sinking without anyone giving a fuck.
anyway i'm going to capitalize on this, and sell tours down there for 500k, now that you can visit two wrecks
man… the ocean is fucking scary.
i’m watching all these videos in submarines and the dangers of diving that deep, and i’m seeing james cameron footage and hearing him describe how everything shrinks at that depth.
and i’ve concluded that i’d never want to go there.
this (partially) explains why das boot is one of the most suspenseful and uncomfortable films i’ve ever seen.

I don't think it's funny that they died.
However, the manner in which they needlessly (one might argue stupidly) put themselves in that position is funny and evidences a certain mentality among that caste of society, the eventual comeuppance for which hardly raises feelings of sadness 4 me.

I mean, it's not everyday that extremely wealthy people put themselves inside a fucking sealed can and drop themselves in the ocean just because. Not to do a scientific survey, research or any kind of furthering of the field of private submarine construction or other industry.
I'm certainly not laughing about it, but it's hard not to think about the stupidity behind such an endeavor.
edit: (yeah, this is basically a retread of horse's post lol).

when someone jumps a barrier or enclosure at a zoo to take a selfie with an apex predator, i only feel remorse for the animal

By blackace Go To PostBut their deaths ☹️😔or when a ride is closed because some idiot hopped no fewer than two fences to retrieve their hat off of roller coaster rails with a ride in motion
Thing that's made me laugh the most is libertarians complaining that various nation state coast guards have not invested enough taxpayer dollars to invest in specialist deep sea rescue equipment to bail out a small cabal of million/billionaires when their unregulated, death-trap shitcan malfunctions.
There might be a lesson in there somewhere.

Regulations are written in blood.
Maybe we need more obscenely rich people dying to grifters so they understand what's at stake with any safety requirements, rigorous testing, OSHA and...
you know what who am I kidding LMFAO

The builders flouted safety regulations.
By Xpike Go To Postimagine all the good that could've been done with those 250k250k only gets you half of this.
that's the real sad part
I just can't get over being bolted in something.
Couldn't pay me to do that mess. I been in some stuff that crashed or failed. No exit what so ever if there's a fire or leak or stall is a huge red flag for me.

Why Outback Steakhouse is the most popular restaurant in Brazil
For five years running, the chain has been voted Rio de Janeiro’s most popular restaurant. The polling service Datafolha has named it São Paulo’s most popular shopping mall eatery
The frenzy has even sparked a knockoff restaurant. Outbêco opened in 2020 and has swept Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, despite its self-inflicted syntactic challenges.
“Outbêco Strokehouse,” several outposts call themselves.
In one booth sits Maurício Godinho, 32. He considers himself an Outback connoisseur. He prefers other locations to this one, which he feels sacrifices service for size. But any Outback, he says, is better than no Outback. He’d eat at the chain every day if could, he said, and can think of only one time he regretted it. He was in the United States. The pizazz of the Brazilian Outback was noticeably absent.
“It was terrible,” he says. “Worse than bad.”
The decision that day had been between Outback and Cheesecake Factory. He still thinks of what could have been.
“I regret it so much.”

By Kibner Go To PostLocks are for stopping honest thieves, but even that is too flimsy.Honest thieves?
By domino Go To PostLazy dumb thievesEh, more like people who thought they were up for stealing but then run away from it once they encounter their first roadblock.
The point is, locks aren't going to keep out anyone that is determined to get into whatever has been locked. They really only need to be just good enough to prevent quick and easy access. Which that lock absolutely fails at.
Shit just gonna keep coming out then folks will wonder why, but one can't make up some of these details like not only using carbon fiber (big fucking no no) but expired carbon fiber for airplanes from Boeing bought at a cut rate.
I went down the deep sea accident trench, and do not google pictures of the Byford Dolphin accident if you squeamish.
