The bigger point is that prior to Netflix and streaming these actors got paid and were comfortable. The model was profitable for the entire industry and now it's a system of haves and have nots.

Not sure how much David Yates was constrained by the scripts for the three Fantastic Beasts films, and especially having to cram in so much into the Harry Potter films, but I don't think he's a very good director.

Universal made more than 1B$ in PVOD in the last 3 years, almost all of it profit. There's a reason why Universal and Paramount keep releasing their movies on PVOD after a month or so when the movies are still doing numbers on theaters and releasing PVOD means high quality pirated rips.
