By Willkiller Go To PostYou know what…M3gan was alright. It was the film that I think Wan thought he was writing when he wrote Malignant, good thing he realised dumb horror/comedies don’t need to have a boring as fuck first and second act just to ‘subvert expectations’.Wan wrote the basis of the story of Malignant, the screenplay was written by Akela Copper, who also wrote M3gan.
I’ll be giving it 3/5 on Letterboxd.

Well good on Akela for learning the lesson
See Tar is out now. Wanna go see it. I think Cate Blanchett is the best actor in the world and it’s not particularly close.

Just watching it now. It's p gud. You also get some Blanchett nudity, so you know it's authentic kino.

By Frustrated_me Go To PostThe MenuLmaooooo
😂😂 This was laughably bad
I wouldn’t go that far, but yeah, it wasn’t my favourite.
Watched Girl, Interrupted tonight. Other than a magnetic performance from Angelina Jolie, it’s a meh film.
the menu was great. hoult sensationally funny through the whole thing. well until he died. did satire on rich dumb people better than triangle of sadness (which was good) and glass onion (which was somewhat bad).
I mean sure it was, but didnt make it worse imo.
The guy with the bad acting gig was funny too though. But I liked all the characters, except maybe the 3 brehs.

I don't follow new releases that often and thought I look up what it was about as am waiting for a tube train.
Seems decent but as a recognise the movie poster i turn around and realise I'm leaning on an ad poster for the movie 💀
Must be telling me something.

Enjoyed Bresson's L'Argent there but it sort of peters out by the last act.
Francs were a frankly ludicrous currency weren't they?
Place it second to A Man Escaped in his oeuvre.

Big banknotes, silly amounts. "Hello, I'm a child who would like a packet of Haribo. Here is a 10,000 Franc note"**

Watched the first 25 minutes of The Ghostbusters..
Reminded me of the Goonies or Gremlins(haven't finished either) where it seems like the target audience were under 10 year olds?

A Franc was basically 10p iirc, found it quite easy to convert

it wont get the credit it deserves.
Not that I think the film was great, but fuck me the CGI is incredible.
i walked out of the movie and my first thought was "i need to see a making of."
i'm no expert but how can he make a movie that looks fantastic for 3 fucking hours when marvel movies can't even get a 10 second cg scene look right. i would guess time pressure and "why bother".

By DiPro Go To Posti walked out of the movie and my first thought was "i need to see a making of."Time & budget constraints are a huge factor I imagine and a director who cares about making the best possible experience rather than one for hire on prerendered scenes.

lol yeah there was that one video with Waititi and Thompson were they made fun of how bad the CG looked in a scene in Thor L&T. Waititi didn't give a fuck.
Cameron took 13 years to make WoTW and it shows. It was meant to have come out in 2014.
Man had to invent new cameras, and rigs and filming techniques to bring his vision to life. He's the only director alive afforded that kind of time and resource.
The average marvel film is beholden to much shorter time scales restrictions.

By DiPro Go To Postwhy make fun of the french Franc when the italian Lira is right there?Remember when I wanted to buy some red puma football shoes in Italy when I was fourteen and it was like 200000 and I was like woah fancy shoes. @shanks
1000 Lire was 50 cent.

Cameron literally invents new ways of film making and technology during the course of his films and goes to extreme physical lengths in filming. It’s more than just budget.
Say what you will about what you think of Cameron dedicating so much of his life to the property, but regardless it comes from a real place of passion.
There's not an ounce of passion in the Marvel films.
