In the age of streaming it's more about what the algo says about preventing audiences from switching or turning shit off, innit? They don't give a shit about content or story.
If you have slower scenes, or scenes where "nothing happens" and you lose a certain % of your audience to another piece of content in those moments, then it's a failure for them.

I don’t really agree with generalized shitting on modern films tbh. If anything, I don’t think there’s been a better time to be into movies due to the sheer amount of good stuff being made both in the US and abroad, and how easy it is to access it.

"I guess... I was wrong" fucking kills me.
The WGA strike is good but y'all need to stop projecting your own views onto creatives at every step lol
None of it is so binary as we'd like to believe
Also if that dude is a writer he should quit. What a lame way to call out Mann. Just use his name and don't be a pussy.

Perhaps it's more urgent we stop defending people at all turns just because we like their films. In Mann's case it shouldn't even be too difficult he hasn't made a good film in 20 years.
How am I defending him? I just think it's lame he's being called out like it matters in the grand scheme of this strike.
I don't think you necessarily do this, but there's plenty that diminish people's work after the fact on smallest lines (no pun intended) because of small grievances like this. And that's exactly what "calling Mann out" is intended to do -- why else play coy by utilizing the name of his past work?

Doesn't mean I still can't be a bit disappointed with him, though. If you don't care or it doesn't bother you that's fair enough.

I know what you mean by the bolded but I see it in different ways. People shit on Zack Snyder and pretend he's a terrible person because the films he makes... aren't good. And then are surprised when stories come out about how nice a guy he is on set and in his personal life. I think it's more common that people project onto creatives based off the work they do, more than anything else.

We saw it even on something as dumb as with Marty disliking MCU movies. All of the sudden there were nerd disertations around how he was a bad person now.
I think there's plenty of worthy causes to call someone out on, but there's gotta be some heft to it at some point. But anyhow, I digress. Probably a better subject to discuss outside of the Film thread.
Can't ever hate on Mann. Heat is phenomenal (Last of the Mohicans too) but the Insider was so damn important and my fav.
One of my fav scenes of all time (edited got the song one oopsies):

The action in the Northman is so fucking bad. Rare does any hit look like it actually connects in this movie. You know exactly where each strike will land before it does. It looks like some WWE shit and Skarsgaard is such a stiff.
By diehard Go To Postomg please dont remix Pink Floyd like thatIt offended me, too. Moreso than the bad CG.
she really is
a large part of why i went to see the second one of the new jurassic park films was to see if she spent the entire film in heels again
i cant remember if she did. the film is genuinely the worst thing i've ever seen at a cinema

Guys, you can just Google her, you don't need to sit through a shitty Chris Pratt adventure vehicle for your needs.
after just watching Beau, that sequence at 1:25 speaks to me. hope it also goes on for 30 min.
By bud Go To Post4k isn't doing gosling any favours.
he looks old.
Will Ferrell has a prominent role? Already thought it was gonna be bad because Gerwig but now it's trash confirmed.

Roger Waters would NEVER
By s y Go To Postyou guys are watching the wrong films. Unless you're specifically talking about modern blockbusters or something. Also, feels like runtimes are longer than ever before.
It only feels like this because of the late 70’s and 80’s producers started demanding more cuts so they could have more screenings during the week. 90’s and onward the multiplex grew in large numbers so one movie could have more screens. The movies just adjusted back to what it was before
Edit: the average sold screen play is 120 pages. Usually 1 page = 1 min
By WoodenLung Go To PostI saw a new clip. QT is gonna love this movie.
