🤔🤔🤔
Like that other “Avatar,” James Cameron’s blockbusters are making their way through the four elements. In a recent interview with French newspaper “20 Minutes,” the director and Pandora mastermind hinted at plot details for the next “Avatar” installment, revealing that the movie will expand past the air-flying and water-surfing clans of Na’vi seen in the first two films to introduce a new tribe based around the element of fire.
“The fire will be represented by the ‘Ash People.’ I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because, so far, I have only shown their good sides,” Cameron said (via Total Film). “In the early films, there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. In Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.”

It's wild how news works. I read a translation of that article a week before the movie came out and it's only now making the rounds everywhere three weeks in
Don't know why people are expecting them to be midnight black or red. One's a cultural minefield and the other disregards Na'vi being blue toned. I'll bet they're super desaturated blue, almost gray. Hence, ash people. Who knows though
I want to know if Landau is securing a back-to-back production greenlight for 4 and 5 as we speak. I bet he is, the lil miracle worker

Damn, it's too early for funniest film post of 2023. Let the rest of us catch up.

Didn't realise he wrote the Ikiru remake. I had assumed there was no point in seeing it before I knew that.
There’s an Ikiru remake?
That’s a dope list. Shanghai Express, It Happened One Night, Dr. Strangelove, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Lady Vanishes, Late Spring, Ikiru, all sensational. Haven’t seen the other three yet. Friends won’t shut up about The Umbrellas of Cherbourg.

I have the box set of this and his three silent films Criterion released as well. No one does lighting like Josef Von Sternberg.
Must watch Foscadh this weekend on TG4 Player, last year's Irish submission for the Oscars.
Also, will watch Witness for the Prosecution on iPlayer. I watched Witness the other day. Hopefully this one is as sexy!
Seeing Cherbourg there reminds me: when I was watching Bresson's Jeanne D'arc the other week I remembered the last Jeanne D'arc film I saw was Bruno Dumont's dire heavy metal music. 🚽

Found it too dry and formal.
Went to see Avatar in 4DX because the lady insisted and I was mildly curious after hearing positive impressions. There’s smoke, flashing lights, water spray, wind, an unsettling and downright ridiculous amount of shaking. The 3D was crap, the image was dark, and no HFR.
It was awful and we walked out not even an hour in. On our way out we saw two people watching the movie on their feet. It’s that bad and I have a bit less respect for those who like this type of theater experience.

Just go to the standard IMAX 3d showing, guy...
its a 3 hour film, no one wants to have all the smoke and rocks being thrown at you for prolonged length of time.
Its a film, not a riot.

Dude did a lot of voice work: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earl_Boen#Filmography
The very first action scene in Puss in Boots The Last Wish eclipses anything from Into The Spider verse, wow.
Off a 12M$ budget, it's probably going to be profitable by Monday.
Horror is still good business at the box office. I saw a tweet the other day that said that Smile was the only original IP to do over 100M$ in the US between September and December.

Yeah, I just found it so stilted and unnatural. Not an Ishiguro issue, as I loved Remains of the Day.
Since I talked a Blumhouse movie.
Only found out about this today but I am up for it.
Kevin Williamson was the "guy" for teen horror in the late 90s, early 00's.
The Scream movies, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Faculty, H20, Teaching Mrs. Tingle.
Not always great movies but all very entertaining.

Should I watch pump up the volume or lethal weapon tonight. I've never seen either
They are the blueprint for buddy cop movies.

if we ever went to Movie Gallery, I'd always rent a game over a movie.

I said you should watch Lethal Weapon because I never seen the other one but you should definitely watch Lethal Weapon.
Pretty much any buddy cop movies after 1987 were strongly influenced by Lethal Weapon.
Great movies like The Good Guys, Rush Hour, The Other Guys wouldn't exist without Lethal Weapon.
48 Hours is another movie that helped the buddy cop genre explode but it was never as big as Lethal Weapon.
About 40 minutes left in Puss in Boots but I've updated my 2022 rankings.
1. The Banshees of Insherin
2. Puss in Boots The Last Wish
Only criticism of Puss in Boots so far is the same criticism I have for Into the Spiderverse.
Blanket dropping the fps to 12 in certain scenes to try to emulate animating on 2s or anime misses the entire point of frame modulation. Some scenes mix up the timing well while others just seem like they halved it just because.
Luckily the action direction and story board in Puss is good enough to make up for it.

Yall were right about City On Fire. It just took me forever to find it.
Chow Yun Fat might be the consistently coolest dude in kino history. I could watch that dude smoke and shoot people for 24 hours straight

Not interested in Glass Onion, All Quiet on the Western Front, The Wonder, White Noise, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Hustle? They’re all 2022 alone.

Netflix is quantity over quality, that's their business model.
By n8 dogg Go To PostI agree with you. But seems a bit weird to write off all Netflix movies on that premise.I think Beasts of Nation was the first Netflix original movie I saw that made me believe. It then kinda went to whatever with some great titles here and there.
