Watched Emily the Criminal last night as I remember there being a bit of hype back when it released. Was alright. Very straight-forward and predictable. Aubrey Plaza was gud. I do like her. Nice hair.
If you love a short and to the point Fuck Capitalism film tho, go for it.

I'm glad that the most important thing about rehashing IPs is still it's box office because that's what ultimately matters
Dipro how did you see Mario early?
Ok look I dunno maybe I'm an aubrey plaza guy

Didn't know the lady who designed creature from the black lagoon also designed chenabog and the metaluna mutant. and was robbed for recognition of all 3.
Yeah, I remember Del Toro posted about it a few years back and also cited it as further inspiration for Shape of Water in some interview.
Watched the first lethal weapon. Having only known that movie through spoofs/ references, it's much more serious than I was expecting
Was expecting more Beverly hills cop not to live and die in la

Don't know if you saw the director's cut or not but there was a great deleted scene from the theatrical cut:

A movie that ties everything together is the last thing Star Wars needs. They've this massive universe to explore but every story they tell focusses on the thing they've already explored and rehashed to death.
They've already ruined Mandalorian in their attempt to spin off a dozen shows from it and their refusal to actually allow Mando and Grogu to be apart for any length of time.

Mario's box office run continues to shatter expectations.
3 days ago it was projected to have a 225M$ global opening weekend but now it's looking like it could go past Frozen 2's 358M$ opening weekend to become the biggest opening weekend worldwide for a an animated movie.

By Xpike Go To Postwho knew people like video gamesWith Mario blowing up at the box office (400M$ by the end of Sunday is a definite possibility) and TLOU being a massive hit for HBO, video game adaptions are going to be a trend for the next few years.
Sony have a ton of TV and movie projects lined up, Ed Boon is more involved in the Mortal Kombat sequel, Capcom is working with Legendary in a Street Fighter live action movie and there are rumours they are rebooting Resident Evil once again, Amazon is doing Fallout.
Hopefully they take the right notes of Mario and TLOU, make it as close as possible to the games.

hopefully that isnt the lesson learned there. when tlou was too close to the games, was when it was at its worst. by far.
Mario making a lot of money says nothing about the film other than yeah, people like Mario and will eat up anything. Adore the games myself but have negative interest in ever seeing that movie. Shit was DOA in my head when I read it's "for the fans".
By WoodenLung Go To Posthopefully that isnt the lesson learned there. when tlou was too close to the games, was when it was at its worst. by far.The worst of TLOU is still miles better than when Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter (haven't watched this one though) created original characters that had nothing to do with the games.
i didnt like all they added either... but did you miss the sniper scene
anyway i guess that isnt really for this thread. but fuck me that sucked. badly

Nearing the one year anniversary of Discovery and AT&T’s WarnerMedia merger, four Democrats in Congress are calling for the Department of Justice to reassess the deal.I bet zaslav is really shaking in his boots
In a letter to the Justice Department’s top enforcers, the lawmakers say that the merger has enabled Warner Bros. Discovery to “adopt potentially anticompetitive practices” that prompted numerous layoffs and reduced programming options for consumers. They allege that “current competition in the media and entertainment industry is inadequate.”
Months before the $43 billion deal was blessed, 30 members of Congress warned the agency in a letter in Dec. 2021 that the resulting competition vacuum would harm workers and consumers.
US doesn't give a shit about maintaining the appearance of competition anymore
I was looking at Pedro Pascal's filmography on wikipedia and saw this:
They put his appearance in Gal Gadot's Imagine video in his acting credits. That's cruel.

Mario movie was a solid 8/10
Yeah if you don’t like Nintendo/Mario you won’t enjoy the movie
Basic plot but keeping it basic is all you need for a first movie
