By WoodenLung Go To PostInfinity pool was… Something. Something i think i likedI figured you would. Probably one of the only times Mia Goth can get away with using her own voice for a character in her career.
By Yurtlicious Go To PostWooden I can vibe with your weird movies
Do you have something cool like the lobster
dont really think I know anything like the lobster, if not just to name every other Lanthimos movie. He certainly got his own... Way of writing.
But I have to just keep recommending The Kingdom/Riget by Trier. He calls them movies, but they are mini series really (first two seasons got 4 episodes, the last got 5). It got a touch of that weird ass dialogue and people just accepting the strangest stuff.
All Quiet on the Western Front was uncompromisingly brutal jfc, and a really good film at that
Think it has a big chance of winning the Oscar tbh

Proper WW1 movie unlike the trash 1917.
By You got 14 bricks right there? Go To PostProper WW1 movie unlike the trash 1917.Have yet to watch AQONTWF since I have cancelled Netflix but 1917 was incredible from a technical standpoint.
I've enjoyed Behind The Scenes footage as much or even more than the movie.
Started watching The Act of Killing with 0 knowledge of the documentary and the events that it focuses on.

By data Go To PostJust watched this. Donald Sutherland is great. Wanted to see that secretary dude get his head caved inAs I said before, it's a good movie. Stephen Rea gives an incredible performance.
I think it is a movie that got forgotten because of it's limited release but that would get a good reaction from modern audiences due to it's true crime angle and the politic angle.
It's incredible how the monster that is Andrei Chikatilo is still unknown to most of the general public.
Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy are two of biggest modern monsters and they had less known victims than Chikatilo.
It's good to see

Disney/Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in rival estimates is still looking at the worst drop for an MCU title at -70% with $32M after an estimated $14.6M Saturday, +76% for a running total of $167.2M in first place.

Watched Knock at the Cabin last night. It's a well made film that is unfortunately very average. The over-arching story isn't really too interesting (despite being right up my alley) and the four 'invaders' aren't really given enough time for you to care. But it's also short enough to not make you feel that until after.

Pretty much my thoughts on it too.
By RATHasReturned Go To Postafter a certain point they definitely stopped making sets and it's all just green screen right
They didn't just stop making sets they stopped filming actors in places that had physical objects in them. They just stand, walk, and run to the next plot point from one big open room on a flat surface to another.
Yep. Look at what Reeves / Fraser did with The Batman, which used the volume too. No comparison.
Ant Man was shot by Bill Pope ffs. This dude knows how to do his job.

I get people like the technical aspect of 1917, but it was boring to me. I was expecting a brutal WW1 movie like All Quiet and not some adventure flick. There's so few modern WW1 movies that if you have one and there's no trench warfare I'm giving you a 0.

Oof, those Yeoh, Pre-Code Paramount and Isabelle Huppert programmes mashallah. Some other good stuff there like the Fruit Chan and Wayne Wang films I haven't seen.

By n8 dogg Go To PostMen (dir. Garland, 2022)? More like Meh.
Good first half, terrible second half. And the ending...woof.

Truly awful opinion.
Annihilation was ass. I don't know if the acting or the art direction was worse.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostBoth are quite shite tbh. Ex Machina still his only good film.he's better in book form
I haven’t seen Annihilation, but Men was empty, pseudointelligent babble. Some great imagery, two very good lead performances, all in service of absolute chutney that thinks it’s smart.
By diehard Go To PostThe first 3/4ths of Sunshine is Garland's best movieWell damn, if we're including everything he's ever worked on my favourite is easily Dredd.
shame about the last fourth
28 Days Later is great. Never Let Me Go p good. Dredd decent. Ex Machina is fine - again, a couple of good performances with not much interesting around it.

I thought Decision to Leave was fucking stupid but the two leads were mesmerizing so I enjoyed it
