@dipro, new ranking just dropped. still waiting for you tell me more to watch. i only got a few more days left to make it to the famous wooden list (that isnt oppenheimer)
ended up watching maestro as well. you can tell cooper tried really hard with this film, and his own performance, but most of it just ends up feeling a bit dull. which is disappointing considering the subject is far more interesting than whatever this ended up being.
mulligan's good in this.

Watched The Night of the Hunter for the first time. Imagine making one film and it’s that good. Disgusting tbh.

Some stunning images. Mitchum with the knife out in the bedroom, Winters in the Model T… incredible stuff.
@Wooden, 'Afire' was a very good 2023 film.
Main character is a pretentious wanker, looks a bit like n8

Belfast art-farty cinema showing their bestsellers of the year:
1. Barbie
2. Oppenheimer
3. Asteroid City
4. Ballywalter
5. Saltburn
6. TÁR
7. God's Creatures
8. Past Lives
9. Killers of the Flower Moon
10. The Whale
Film industry properly in trouble lmao. What percentage will be flops out of those two lists 50+, 75+?
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret was very solid. 13 year olds will eat that shit up. Great performances all round.

Watch Five Nights At Freddy's tonight because my sister's wife wanted to see it.
The animatronics were great, everything else was a bit shit and didn't make much sense.
Apparently he was under investigation for drug offences. I’ve seen him in a few other movies, all directed by Hong Sang-soo. RIP
Dude was being investigated for drug use:
Lee has gone through three rounds of police questioning on suspicions of using marijuana and other illegal drugs at the home of a hostess working at a high-end bar in Seoul's Gangnam district on multiple occasions since early this year, including last Saturday.
Don’t even be linked with drugs in Korea.
It will be the end of you.
Koreans can’t even do legal drugs in foreign countries.
Smoke weed legally in the US and get found out, fucked.

How is that enforceable?
By Dazenheimer Go To PostWhat?Singapore does the same thing. I was in Thailand with a few friends from Singapore and they couldn't go near the stuff in fear of being tested when they got back home.

There was a case of a Korean uni student in NY smoking weed and then a friend snitched in him back in Korea after a falling out.
By Punished Go To PostWho wants to order lists alphabetically when you can do it by length?
By n8 dogg Go To PostThat is totally at odds with the context or the actual text of the film, lol
Like, whatever, death of the author, you enjoy the film how you want… but it’s clearly not a film where the intent is purely to enjoy it. It’s not an Airplane, or even a dumb action movie.
It’s one thing for people to write treatises about Bad Boys II really being about American exceptionalism and interventionism and racism or whatever when that’s a lot of subtext and is very clearly a secondary concern in the director’s thoughts.
But Saltburn is clearly MEANT to be some sort of class commentary. It’s all there, nakedly, in the text, in what the director says about it, in its visuals and its costumes and its script.
I’ve posted tons of dumb shit about Barbie or KotFM or The Last Jedi that you may well have picked on for me espousing discussion about its messages. But Saltburn? One of the more obvious ‘this is ABOUT SOMETHING’ films I’ve seen in a long time.
The moral of the story is that you should never trust a scouser

By FortuneFaded Go To PostOnly seen 3 of the movies in the list, Air was pretty decent but Past Lives and The Holdovers are my favourite two movies of this year so far.
Saltburn was really about Harry Potter, Twilight, and how big dick energy gets you far in life. I get why N8 didn’t like it.
