By then, both Affleck and Keaton were excluded from the latest cut of the film due to Gunn and Safran's plans to reboot the DCEU into their new franchise the DC Universe (DCU).[64] Later during that September, Wan noted during an interview that the film would not be connected to any previous films due to him being uncertain if his movie would release before or after The Flash and declined to answer if Batman would show up.[65] In October 2023, the film was delayed two days to December 22, 2023.[66]
