Napoleon was a decent romp, nothing more.
Didn't know much about Napoleon before seeing the film and left in much the same way. Tagline was divorced from the actual film.

By Freewheelin Go To PostWatched Deja Vu tonight, pretty average flick, but Denzel is always watchablePaula Patton tho
Gran Turismo was fine. Pretty standard underdog sports story but looked and sounded nice.
The thing with the racing lines is so fucking stupid but whatever.
The Flash was trash. Horrible CGI, a terrible adaptation of a good comic storyline, stupid jokes and the most bland of choices for a location for the big fight.
Sasha Calle is ridiculously hot though.

you could try ang lee's 60fps releases for the novelty of it: gemini man and billy lynn's long halftime walk.
i recently saw criterion's release of raging bull in 4k. looked very nice.
worst uhd release i've encountered so far is that of interstellar. black levels are messed up.
hope they do a rerelease.

By bud Go To Postworst uhd release i've encountered so far is that of interstellar. black levels are messed up.Unfortunately that's a Nolan issue, it happens on Oppenheimer (in one scene) and Batman Begins too

Disney's year from hell at the box office continues.
Wish, the animated movie that is celebrating Disney's 100th anniversary, is looking at 31M$ for a 5 day weekend, behind the new Hunger Games 2nd weekend and an R rated Napoleon.
It's been a "perfect" storm for Disney this year.
Mediocre movies, poor marketing, out of control budgets and the Disney + element that has affected the MCU by making it feel like you have to watch the TV shows to understand what's happening and it's probably even affecting the animated side more because of how quick the animated movies appear on the service.
Of all the movies they released in 2023, they only had a big hit with Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 and 4 massive flops that will lose hundreds of millions in Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, The Marvels and Wish.
2024 will be a light year for Disney, the only 3 big budget bets are a sequel of one of Pixar's most loved movies (Inside Out 2}, the sequel to their biggest live action remake (The Lion King 2) and just one MCU movie in Deadpool 3.
It's kind of shocking how much Disney has gone down to the point where the sequel of a Fox movie full of characters from the Fox Marvel Universe is going to be a deciding point for the MCU.

Haunting In Venice: boring shit, turned it off after 50 minutes.
The Little Things: also shit
Fucking waste of an evening.
The Little Things: also shit
Fucking waste of an evening.
DEADLINE: With that indelible image of the hand of Maximus, gently touching the field of wheat. How did you come upon that?
SCOTT: Honestly, no. I shot that hand it was the last shot of principal photography. Russell didn't come to Italy, it was his double. The guy was standing there in this field, smoking. I go, get out of the field, are you joking? It was mid- summer, dry. He says, "Oh, sorry man." He walked out [off the field], and did that thing with the hand. I said, "Stop right there. Get the Steadicam."
DEADLINE: You're saying that you were trying to keep Russell's double from lighting the dry wheat field on fire, and stumbled into that image that is one of the most memorable in Gladiator?
SCOTT: We followed the hand, no kidding. It became the catalyst for immortality, or heaven if you like, right there. It was discovered the last day, spontaneously. I consider spontaneity to be essential to what I do, you've always got to be watching. That's not on paper. And so suddenly that becomes the editing room and then the theme happens. The theme is magic, and the hand is magic. Russell didn't come to Italy, that's his double. He said, you'll never use that. I said, I will. When he saw the scene, he groaned. I said, too late, It's shot. I got it, mate. It was, put out that cigarette and get the Steadicam. And don't walk on the wheat.
Incredible that's not Crowe in the film.

asteroid city that high is wild, i dont understand how anyone can sit down and think that is a truly great film. it cemented that wes anderson has truly lost it, and probably wont return, too busy smelling his own farts.
