Is he supposed to be attractive?
By LFMartins86 Go To PostAftersun was so good.
best film of 2022 imo
Snow day is a weird ass movie. It was clearly a pete and Pete movie you can literally pick who was swapped for who. It's basically an alternate universe Pete and Pete where little Pete is a girl. The guy playing not big Pete even talks like him. And obviously it's the same creator
Exchanging Hardy Rawls for Chevy Chase is the world's biggest downgrade. Also the lead is 22 playing a high schooler and he is exceptionally hairy
Still kinda fun to watch. The location really capture the era and the music is pretty good..and pam grier is in it

Enjoyed The Killer for the most part. Weak last 15-20, but most of it is a pitch black, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny flick. First twenty or so in particular is great. It’s lesser, slighter Fincher, but it’s very slick, entertaining stuff. Sound design alone worth the figurative price of admission.
Watched Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown this evening. Kind of film I wish I'd seen in the cinema with other people
They did the same shit with Gladiator.
Noone's worse than Neil de Grasse Tyson any time he offers up an opinion on scifi. Insufferable cunt.

Left Flowers four hours ago. Cloudy judgement still hovers the beauty of what I saw, so the only feeling there is to share is it seemed by the end that Martin Scorsese had quite the challenging story here, and the povs he worked with were very challenging ones. Nagging feeling there was a lot left in the cutting room, but I’m probably wrong.

By reilo Go To PostMarvels has a -87% first to second Saturday drop LOLIt's going to have a sub 10M$ second weekend and end up behind Eli Roth's Thanksgiving.
Speaking of box office, an interesting story is happening in France.
Le Consentement is a book about the true story of a 14 year old Vanessa Springora who was groomed and pressured to have sexual relations with a 49 year old famous writer named Gabriel Matzneff.
The movie adaptation came out more than a month ago to average reviews and 60k tickets sold in the first week in France.
But in the last weeks the movie went viral on Tik Tok and become a phenomenon for teen girls.
Theater owners have said that they never seen so many teen girls in theaters to watch a movie that isn't a blockbuster or a comedy.
The movie has passed the half million tickets sold in France and it's now on double the screens it was showing on it's opening weekend.
It's good that the movie is doing well and bringing the subject to the French society that has been a bit defensive about the MeToo movement and age of consent (only two years ago it become completely illegal for an adult to have sex with a 15 year old in France) but interestingly it's also relevant to the failure of The Marvels.
Teens and women were probably two of the biggest demographic markets that Marvel was targeting but it failed on both.
Talking about US numbers only, only 19% of the audience was 18-24 and 39% female (Captain Marvel was 40% and 45%).
Probably having actors doing the press tour could have helped, Iman Vellani has gone a bit viral for her answers in a recent interview.
She should be a massive hit for Marvel as she is young, adorable and passionate about the source material but both her appearances on Disney+ and the theaters have been far from hits.
Challenging days for Marvel/Disney up ahead. Deadpool 3 is the only MCU movie on the schedule next year and it's very likely going to be a hit, not because people are still heavily interested on the MCU but because is going to be an event movie with Deadpool interacting with the rest of the Fox Marvel Universe.
The rest of the MCU projects have been plagued with script/director/showrunner issues.
I don't think there is a superhero fatigue as things like The Boys, Gen V, Harley Quinn (only started watching it this week but it's brilliant) and Invincible are very popular.
2025 is going to be interesting with James Gunn's (who made the only MCU hit in 2023 and the best trilogy in the MCU) take on DCU starts against a MCU on the downward trajectory.
Binged my way through all ~5 hours of RobertDoc yesterday. Sensational stuff if you ever liked RobertCop.
Days removed from The Killer, and with same distance between I really gotta say I loved it. It’s not the kind of movie that would be expected from him, in my own opinion, but the way he does it is unmistakably David Fincher.
