By inky Go To PostI mean, we'd also need to bring in another CB.Obviously ETH is converting Sancho into a CB
Mateus Fernandes starts today against Marítimo, hopefully he does well.
We are bit light on the midfield, Morita still hasn't recovered from the injury he got in the World Cup, Pedro Gonçalves and Dario Essugo are suspended so Mateus Fernandes starts and new signing Tanlongo is on the bench.
Very important match, a win today would see us move just two points behind Porto and would let us keep the momentum for next week's game against Benfica.
Coates and Nuno Santos are one yellow away, the Uruguayan starts but Nuno goes to the bench as a precaution, he has been one of our best players but he is a hothead and this ref is quick with the cards.

Sergio Gomez was cheap so worth a flyer but he won’t make it at City. Gives the ball away too easily and too often.
Maguire is close to being 5th choice CB at this point. Think ETH would rather play Shaw at CB than Maguire at this point.

At LCB, yes, because he mostly only wants left footed players playing there.

Now it all makes sense, the secret training arc in Holland will pay off.

I know the Potter defense force is strong and circumstances haven't been kind to him but he was brought in to improve some core young players who supposedly are the future of the club. He has to get a better tune out of the likes of Havertz, Mount, Gallagher, Cucurella. Someone like Cucurella should be much improved and more confident under him, they worked together at Brighton.
I'd say the team look worse than under Tuchel now and they were trash under Tuchel. Chelsea haven't looked good in any game for over a year now when James is injured and that's damning.
Potter should be given more time but if he keeps losing every single game he won't survive this season. I'm not sure the players understand what he wants, he's regularly changed formations and rotated heavily.

By FootbalIFan Go To Postwait so liverpool wolves have to replay the game? Who came up with this dumb rule? The FA Cup is dumb as fuck. They hold it on a weekend too instead of midweek like everyone else does their domestic cups. All it does is create fixture congestion. It's an outdated relic, a challenge cup that was created because the first division didn't exist yet. Well that challenge is irrelevant now. Domestic cups need to go. Everywhere. It's such a wet fart to look at the weekend games and see FA Cup instead of PL. I'm watching NFL today. Yesterday I watched no sports, played PS5 and watched YouTube instead.
When americans complain about football having draws as a negative, its usually nonsensical because draws actually matter and its seen as a point won for one team, or two points lost for another team etc.
But if you just replay the game..then it really literally is useless.
By Laboured Go To PostThey're (rightly) turning on Todd.
Eh somewhat. Done some horrible transfers but also was left a fucking mess after the sanctions and all.
Koulibaly and Sterling as terrible as they are, not as much a disaster as having no cbs, or having lukaku
Going for Potter just idiotic. Should burn tuchel alive instead
Just seen the Villa result. Conceded twice in the 85th and 91st minute to lose to Stevenage.
They didn't select a full strength side, but it was still a decent one. Our loss to them a while back grates even more.

Domestic cups are great, the purest form of football and the FA Cup is probably the best domestic cup in the world.
I do think having two domestic cups is a bit much, but then I support a team that also competes in Europe so I understand it may not be shared by others.
Something needs to be done about the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup needs to be treated better than it is right now.
By Xpike Go To Posthope we throw the game tomorrow, can't be arsed to care about the fa cup when we're closer to the title than ever and need as little matches as possibleAbsolutely. You won it four times in the previous decade and it didn't fill the void of not winning the league for nearly two decades. Use only reserve players for these meaningless domestic cups.
The League Cup is the one that is unnecessary but the FA Cup (and other countries equivalents) are great.
Just this week I was at a dinner with some older people and they were talking about a guy who died recently and they mentioned that he was part of the local team that faced Benfica in the Portuguese Cup.
That match happened almost 60 years ago and despite that local team losing the match, it still gets mentioned.

By Willkiller Go To PostThe FA Cup…meaningless? I'm guessing you're not English or that is mentalWhen my country created a domestic cup, no one cheered. By Meier Go To PostAlmost always very boring when City get 3+ in the first half. For Pep this was so common during 2008-2011 for him. 3 or 4 goal lead at half time and everybody expects the game to finish 9-0, but he just makes the team control the play until the game is done in the second half. Sometimes will score one but usually no.
By Esch Go To PostFA cup good simple asLeague cup am bad
Fa cup cool with me
Replaying games instead of going extra time or straight pens am dumb rule
The main reason the FA cup is still important and good is that the English leagues actually matter and are well supported below the top division. You can go down to step 8 or 9 and still find clubs with big local support for whom the FA cup is the dream competition. Most other football nations just don't have that depth of support
