By Cleff Go To PostWould have Fernandez at United in a heartbeat. But not for €130m. We've too many positions to fill yet and that would be close to our entire budget for the summer.
Also, I'm not sure he's exactly what Chelsea needs either. They're after a number 9, which isn't Nkunku btw, and another CB.
They're also chock full of soft bois. Enzo will bring some grinta at least.
Chelsea is VERY much in need of a central midfielder. I've no idea if Enzo is that midfielder, but it's clear that neither Jorginho, Kovashit or Zakaria is what is needed, and Kante is way too injured to be trusted sadly. Gallagher has not been good either. Jorginho and Kovashit should in the ideal world be frozen out of the squad until they go away.
Badiashile is already coming in at CB, nothing more will be done there until Thiago Silva leaves at least, and after giving Koulibaly what seems like a fucking life time contract in the worst transfer of the season, and having just brought in Fofana who is never fit.
A striker should be top priority now if this Enzo deal is done.

I doubt Lukaku is coming back m9, and Nkunku isnt a proper forward either
David Datro Fofana though. Chelsea saved.

work permits were a bitch before brexit as well i am pretty sure.

Good stance to take. Amad actually has very little first team experience to his name. We signed him from Atalanta when he had about two sub appearances for the senior side. He's doing well at Sunderland and should stay there to see how much more he can develop.
Klopp lol
“When I say they stretch the rules in offensive set pieces – and they do, don’t get me wrong, they are smart but they do – if you singled out every situation you would find five fouls,” he said. “But because it’s so chaotic, nobody sees it. That’s what they do, and it’s really good, they react to different things. They play like this against us, but against other teams they play football and it’s fantastic.

Only one on there you’d call an unqualified success at this point is VVD. I guess Havertz did score the winner in the CL final. Too early to tell for Antony and Nunez, probably Grealish and Sancho too.

Lukaku to Chelsea surely has to be the worst transfer of all-time.
By n8 dogg Go To PostKlopp lolI've always said Klopp is a whiner. He even complains about the grass length and the amount it was watered.

Still a great coach though. Just probably frustrated at his players and options atm
Virgil's fall off was drastic this year.
Also, Mane is greatly missed, his goals, assists and work rate are clutch.

In my expert opinion. Antony still has time. And Grealish and Darwin can still turn things around.
imo
I never responded to Hitch we changed threads when he said he still wouldn’t rate Arteta if Arsenal won the league.
Fair enough. It is how I feel about Klopp. VVD and Mane carried his arse. Now that one is shit and the other is gone, he is exposed as a fraud again.

In what world do they have to time but not Fofana?
I like Darwin a lot. Great signing for Liverpool if he can just improve his finishing. 5 goals in 13 appearances isn’t a bad return for your first season in the league.

I am surprised United have five of the top seven. Was always told that Glazers never invest in the club.

Not to take away from any of those players but VVD instantly transformed the team and helped them to a CL final within half a season. The other players are quality but have not had the impact you’d expect for a 80+ million investment. City would still be City without Grealish, Antony isn’t as critical to this side yet, Darwin looks to need a season to fit in however to be fair to him, this whole Pool side has been kind of shit so it’s hard to say, Fofana? I think he’s still in Martinelli’s pocket.
While Haaland’s fee wasnt as high, his wages definitely put him up there as one of the most expensive transfers albeit one that has paid off already.

But what do you mean by investing?
Because last I read they have spent more than anyone over the last ten years.
Most fans of other clubs would love to have had the spending sprees that United have had.

If you get paid and put no money into home improvements, but go on spending sprees where you exclusively buy fast food, are you investing?
Eeee I cannae believe the story of Ronaldo having a fucking clause in his contract about us was all bollocks. RIP u will live on forever. Cant believe it. I wanna run to u.
By n8 dogg Go To PostIf you get paid and put no money into home improvements, but go on spending sprees where you exclusively buy fast food, are you investing?
If I go out to improve my home but end up buying the world’s most expensive defender, then I have invested in my football team.
I am not trying to be facetious here. I genuinely want to know what United fans expect. For me investment has been there, but it is just that most of them have been flops under shit managers.
I mean they've not spent anything on buying the club or put any money into the club. They just sometimes let us spend the money we made (badly), which is like, thanks I guess?
The issue with money with the Glazers is kinda one of semantics to a point. Has there been "investment"? Well no because they just funnel the money the club makes back into itself (while skimming some off the top), which is an issue. I don't know how much more "investment" can be made on the pitch, the club has spent a ton of money on players, where that money comes from doesn't matter much I don't think.
That said, the club is in desperate need of proper investment. The facilities have fallen well behind, the stadium is a legit shithole, I was genuinely shocked when I went there for the first time and that was 2/3 years ago.The club has massive issues and the owners are at the root of that, but the problem hasn't ever really been spending money on players, but that's not the only thing owners have a duty to do.

I think both Shanks and N8 can be right innit, they have invested ridiculous money in the squad with some of those buys but have also taken out dividends to put the club in further debt.

Thanks, some good points here. You are right about semantics because when I talk about investment I usually just think strictly about the money spent on players. But you are right that it is actually more than just that.
And while the Glazers have taken money out. It is not like they have bled the club dry. Their net spend over the last ten years is a billion.

What’s the point of having the world’s most expensive defender when he’s a signing borne out of panic rather than a comprehensive strategy?
Not picked by a manager with a vision, or by a sporting director, but because he’s a big name. Then training at a facility that isn’t state-of-the-art, and playing next to a partner who doesn’t complement them because they were bought on a whim by a previous manager who again didn’t have the apparatus around them.
The Glazers have not invested in the football club. They might have spent the club’s money on the playing squad, but that is not the same as developing the infrastructure required for sustained success, and they have not shown a willingness to put in anything that constitutes long-term vision.
They have not put in any money of their own. They didn’t even buy the club with their own money. They have multiplied the debt of the club by umpteen amounts. They pay themselves colossal dividends despite years of failure. They know that the global reach of the club means there’s a lot of fans placated by the shiny new 90m signing, who increase marketing opportunities but not the club.
Liverpool having had the five years or so they have had is because of smart investment; I’m not going to give the Glazers any credit for a) stupid investments and b) investments the club would have generated the funds for regardless of anything they have done. They have not provided any value to the club. They skated under the radar when Ferguson was winning things with dogshit players (he replaced Ronaldo with Valencia for 25m and Owen on a free signing), and when things went tits up because of their inept appointments they thought throwing one big lump sum at something shiny every once in a while would fix things.
