By MonadL Go To PostWent normal. NuGoW's combat is a weaker spot for me so I wanted little resistance. Shit feels like fighting in a phone booth.Ahahah
By DY_nasty Go To Postgod of guardians of the galaxyI originally thought you were just talking about the dialogue
I went for the second highest difficulty, feels balanced enough so far but I'm still at a point where it hasn't opened up.
Either the arena design has changed or I'm much worse at this than I was at the first at avoiding getting surrounded by enemies and hit in the back. I can't even tell what direction the threat arrows are pointing in a lot of the time.

By Yurtlicious Go To PostLol nah you're good, most of the reskinned optional bosses take me out in 1.5 hitsReskinned? Hmm everyb berserker I've fought has been completely unique unless they're from the first game and I'm forgetting m
But I'm decent at parrying and stacking ailments to stunlock them
Is that Hard? I went with Hard. Its sweet
I always go with the medium difficulty.
I am not looking for Souls level boss fights.
I have put in about two hours so far. Enjoying it.
I can’t believe they got Richard Schiff in this. Totally was expecting him.

Honestly enjoying the amount of exploration so far, I have yet to encounter Tyr? and have yet to reach the Marvel stuff but it feels like I have been playing for quite a bit?
ill never understand how days gone, tsushima and now god of war have so many more walk n talk sections than last of us 2. Zero interest in replay value
By DY_nasty Go To PostI like this game even but I can't help shake the feeling that I'm playing tomb raiderThe cognitive dissonance between hyper realisim and the nonsensical level design littered with video game tropes is dizzying.
I'm having loads of fun but it takes me out sometimes. And not sure why they brought back two of their most uninspired realms unchanged
I know people are saying it's basically GoW18, and I agree, but man...the boss fights are absolute fire. It's all I wanted
Am I the only one who wants to delete Freya and everything about her
Shout out to all the animals again 🥺🥺🥺🥺
It’s been amazing so far, only complaint are the menus and one walking scene that went on for too long.
I’m pretty early on, only just left the snow, but I’m having fun. On second-top difficulty.
That said, the snow area looked too drab, feels like it looks more PS4 in that area than the rest I’ve seen.
Also, yeah, no need for the RPG shit. GOW1-3 had the barest amount of an upgrade system and it was perfect. I don’t want to be doing detours to get to a chest that holds 56 hacksilver. The rewards aren’t worth it (yet)

Yeah if it ain't a runic ability I don't give a shit. Health and rage upgrades are nice but they don't exactly excite me.
Yeah, it's like it won't even try moving to a different target unless they're stood shoulder to shoulder. Not enjoying figthing the Grims at all, the way they tank through your hits to hit you during your recovery is doing my head in. Way too much poison flying around as well.
I'm 20h in, been doing optional stuff for the past 8 hours or so, did all the quests in the river region with Freya, freed the second jellyfish in the desert.
So far so good, but it's not blowing me away yet. Enemy / (side) boss variation has been the highlight so far, the cumbersome rpg upgrading with 56 submenus my least favourite part. Kind of crazy that they've doubled down instead of streamlining that aspect of the game, but whatever.
The 2018 GoW is one of the very few games that I've more or less 100%'d, don't see myself doing it this time around. I'll definitely finish all the story side quests, but I'm not going back looking for ravens and missed chests and shit.

Just got the spear and this game man wew, so many memorable moments have happened. The sheer scale of the production values is astounding.
I’m at a point where I have no problem saying this is superior to 2018 in almost all aspects I can think of. Sure the game now lets you ruin the pacing if you want it, like spending 8 hours doing optional lmao wtf Zabo that’s terrible editing b

Could've done just one area and left the other for later, but I was feeling it.
Don't worry about me, I'm the absolute master of pacing in pretty much every aspect of gaming. I know when to tackle big titles and when to go on an indie rampage, when to no-life Apex for months and when to take a long ass break from it. I have refined my gaming bushido to perfection.
Until you have the objective dead ahead without any obstacles, the icons fly all over the place. It was an issue in the first game as well iirc, I might just use the navigation hint thing instead. Might turn on auto-pickup, that split second where I shift my fingers to pick health up is a lot.
the ugly shitsnake in the giant abuela's home means I stopped playing
how many more sneks are in this game? should I bin it?

By Yurtlicious Go To PostFinished it.I’m about 12 hours in and it seems to be about the same as 2018. Solid 8 mostly due to insane production values.
Hmm
What an utter disappointment.
Finished it at 32 hours, will take a long break from it and come back later for the rest of the quests. SSM pulled a massive one here.
The final act fell flat for me for me. The developments were awkward & rushed at best, which was odd considering how much fucking build up there was prior.
Fine with the marvel-ness of the narrative and I liked the much bigger scope and the expanded cast. Except freyr, what the fuck were they thinking?
Good game, better than 2018. A better sequel Horizon FW. Still has significant issues with level ,encounter and combat design but they addressed the major concerns(enemy variety, bosses).
I'm never replaying this campaign though lol. Might have more walkntalks than the past 5 Naughty Dog titles combined. I'll get to the side content later.
8/10

Last fights were incredibly underwhelming man Odin could do anything and they made him into a wizard lmao. Thor, a major character, relegated to an opening act. And out of all places to fight them?
That one boss fight midgame though was fucking great 🤛
Liking it a lot more now, got the choice to stay or leave Alfheim
Changed some settings and getting into the swing of the combat. Really wish they wouldn't clutter the inventory with things you can't sell. Let me store or hide them at least.
Do you get an update when you've killed enough ravens for a new chest?

motherfucking game had a bug before the patch that wouldn't save the difficulty setting if you'd changed it so no wonder I thought the game was piss easy. The 2nd top difficulty is a good level now I am actually on it. ffs.
Just got to a secondAtreus section. I think I've read people complain about this one a lot so I stopped for a break lol.
The side quests so far are ok but comparing them to the Witcher 3 is a bit much unless they improve deeper into the game.

Just finished. Probably like this as much as 2018. Main quest felt a little bloated but they fixed a lot of the flaws of 2018 i.e. lack of enemy variety and realms to explore in a big way.
There is a lot of stuff happening,
Getting my butt kicked by the Hated or Hatred boss?
Also, a lot more enemy variety in this - overall great stuff so far - kind of hate having to re earn all my axe skills though.
Yes, it is dialogue heavy - which you can take or leave.
Yes, the Guardians of the Galaxy with far far superior combat is an apt comparison.

Gets better every hour imo, can see why it got such glowing reviews now
Got a new armour set with cooldown reduction. Shame to lose the slow motion on evasion, but I'm mainly blocking and parrying anyway. Wish it did a better job of explaining the buffs you get.
Freya in Valkyrie gear looks great

Finished it earlier today with around 45 hours. Mixed feelings. Overall it was an enjoyable romp that didn't quite live up to my lofty expectations. As someone who rarely bothers with sequels that are this closely related - this was a good reminder as to why. For all the improvements over GoW 2018, of which there are plenty, at every turn I kept feeling like they played it way too safe. I guess it was stupid to expect otherwise, but here I am.
For all the little complaints pertaining to gameplay, what ultimately failed to convince me is the story. While I can't say they didn't try pushing Kratos' and Atreus' relationship in a new direction, a lot of it felt like retreading old ground. I liked most of the returning and new characters, certainly the Asgardian bunch, not so much how everything played out in the end. I can think of quite a few memorable moments, but for every one that connected with me emotionally - Kratos and Faye, Thrud and Thor - there's another that fell flat. The Tyr twist, the way it was handled, didn't really do much for me, to name just one.
For another, I definitely expected the game to end on a significantly more grandiose and dramatic note, odd as it sounds when you get to witness the supposed end of the world. That whole final act simply didn't live up to the 30-hour build up. I went into Tyr's temple bracing myself for a long crescendo and a mind-blowing conclusion, instead it was over in like ninety minutes and it left me feeling semi-satisfied and semi-deflated. It wasn't the worst ending, not a particularly great one either.
All in all, a good game build upon a solid foundation, with amazing production values and a distinct lack of risk taking.
Edit: Whoever compared Ragnarok's side quest to TW3's needs to lay off the crack. They're enjoyable little adventures for the most part, but even just the fact that you get exactly one (often predictable) outcome is enough to relegate them to a lower league compared to what TW3 had.
Edit2: I went looking for queen Alanah's name in the credits, couldn't find it. I'm sure it's there.
