By rodeoclown Go To PostThe US has to win or tie today to have any chance of advancing? I'm an American, please help.
Not necessarily. For instance, they lose 2-0, but then beat Iran 1-0 and England don’t lose to Wales, they’d go through.
Any scenario in which the US finish level on points with Iran but with a better goal difference (Iran’s is currently -2) would see the US through.

Nope
By rodeoclown Go To PostThe US has to win or tie today to have any chance of advancing? I'm an American, please help.Nah. They can lose as long as they beat Iran next game and Wales doesn't win against England. If the USA and Wales both win on the final day, it will go down to goal difference.
By BlindCom Go To PostRidiculous, shouldn't have been disallowed. Would have been a goal regardless of that player.
Wat? Do you know the rule m8?

Thanks, friends. I didn't realize goal differential was so important. Seems like that would incentivize teams to run up the score.

Nope what is the rule actually? I thought it was interfering with play but in this case he's not touched the ball nor blocked the goalkeeper's sight.
You can see on the last replay the goalkeeper has a very clear view of the ball (unobstructed line of sight) and is diving in the right direction? The keeper isn't even asking for an offside, unlike most keepers in that situation because he wasn't impended I think.
