By s y Go To PostWhat’s crazy about this? If you’re the franchise player and your team loses and you shot 3-13 on -29 and someone else shot 6-9 on +15, of course you’re gonna look worse
And there it is. The load management era is going to end abruptly or a lot of the 30+ crowd is going to be blanked on All-NBA and MVP votes in the latter part of their careers.
It makes sense since these awards are tied to compensation and establishing max and supermax contracts.
It's also going to be a lower threshold than you think, something around 60 games played, which leaves plenty of load management.

What do they mean by major awards?
Who's out here winning MVP, DPOY, ROY, etc. without playing? One of the biggest reasons I saw brought up over last year's MVP debate was how Embiid only played 54 games vs Jokic 74.
Kyrie, Zion, Kawhi, etc. aren't qualifying for any awards.

By Pho Kew Go To PostWhat do they mean by major awards?Lebron, Embiid and Durant made All-NBA last year with < 56 games. This would disqualify them. Ditto for some of Kawhi's and Kyrie's All-NBA selections in other seasons depending on the number of games.

Moreso than the individual awards, the All NBA teams matter to these guys a lot, and this could really push guys to stop missing games that are otherwise playable (esp on National TV which is the whole reason for the proposed change).
Kevin Durant was honestly baffled the last two seasons that games played was even a factor when voters were considering MVP awards. If 65 games was the baseline, The entire All-NBA 2nd team (Durant, Curry, Embiid, Ja) from 2022 minus Derozan is completely wiped out, and Lebron doesn't make the 3rd team (with CP3 barely making it).
This idea that the regular season doesn't matter hurts the product, and altering the CBA (which ties supermax money to these awards) and hurting guys in fanboy list wars (ie # of All NBA teams made) is probably the last straw to make some of these guys give AF.
I also think the NBA will keep pushing the elongate the season to eliminate more back-to-backs. I wouldn't be shocked to see it beginning end of September through middle of July because they'll never give up the game revenue.
According to the new broadcast deal stuff, the NBA is leaning more towards a shortened season I thought.
Can't be just about the broadcast, they'd lose a ton of money from ticket sales, merch, and concessions from in-game stuff. NBA's exploding valuation is tied to gate receipts as much as anything, especially since they were ahead of the curve charging more money for certain teams coming into town.
Maybe they drop it down to 78 or 76 games long-term, but I doubt it.

they aren't going to extend the season. playoff teams/contenders are already playing until may/june.

The first round doesn't need to be over two weeks long though. Guys can play every other night in a 2-2-1-1-1 format.

As haters we can't give them any outs, this is too easy plus most people dislike Trae more so it's a push.

HaterMuse is the only one with any dignity.
Real proper hating, nothing to rebuttal and short and to the point.
