The Suns will have the biggest dropoff for a 60+ win in NBA history, prob wouldn't be holding them up no matter the injuries.
The Mavs having as many wins as my team that can't tank properly though...

Would immediately make Nets title favourites. Give them Thomas, Sharpe, Morris, Edwards, all the picks, Mills, whatever. Make it HAPPEN
If we could find a way to land OG that would be amazing...
Knicks match up well against the Cavs, no big wings to attack our smaller defenders, Grimes IQ and McBride to throw at Garland and Mitchell, Mobley isn't quite strong enough to guard Randle yet. Of all the top teams in the east I'd rather play them in the playoffs.

I think for salaries to match (both teams over the tax threshold) the Nets would have to send Harris + a mix of young players (for the Raps to feel like they got their money's worth) + picks, and in return Raps would more than likely have to send out a second/third player with OG.
Something like
OG
Koloko
Hernangomez
for
Harris
Thomas
Edwards
Sharpe
+2-3 picks
Or if the Raps didn't want Harris' salary on the books for the extra year, scrap Koloko/Hernangomez and swap Curry for Harris.

Is this a joke?
Austin Rivers made a good point in his Ringer podcast this week that 6th man is the worst award to win, because for most guys it pigeonholes you as a guy who can't play with starting units and should not get paid starter money.
By reilo Go To PostAFAICT, Nets can only offer FRP in 2028 and 2030, and uh, uh?
In this hypothetical, Nets would move more pieces to clear roster space and acquire some picks for trade fodder.

Non-vet 6MOTY winners routinely get max contracts.

You think those will return 2-3 FRP? Help me out here.

I'm saying that they'd try to dump anyone not involved in a trade w/Toronto to try and get additional assets, if they were serious about trying to get OG. If Harris is in the deal, they'd trade Curry/Patty to another team, etc.
To be clear this is wishcasting, there have been no rumors that the Nets are even trying to make that kind of move and I think the team really likes Cam, even if there's not much room for him in the current rotation.
By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostHerro, Harden, and ???Eric Gordon too(might be a stretch). If you're young, winning 6moty doesn't pigeon hole you into any type of contract. Most 6moty winners have already defined themselves as non-max/starter players.

Herro getting paid too...
I don't know if it's a great point
The majority of the 6MoY winners since the 90s onward definitely got a ceiling put on their careers though.
By Sho_Nuff82 Go To PostHerro, Harden, and ???Well, what is starter money? Unless you are a young prospect, you probably won't get maxed but 10 million surely is starter money

Lou and Jamal weren’t starting caliber players. The reason they weren’t starters wasn’t because of some preconceived notion that 6moty can’t play with starters, they thrived in that role because they couldn’t play with starters.
Their role was go out and score a ton while the starters get some rest. Their careers were better as 6th men than starters for a reason

Jamal won it 3 times - he wasn't always playing behind an all-star or something though.

Teams hitch wagons to less dynamic role players for fit and bottle up a 6moy winner one-size-fits-all type plenty imo. Even off a RoY/6moy campaign, Ben Gordon only got real starter reps once in his entire career.

I hope they play the Warriors in the playoffs, just so I can watch the VORP nerds have to rationalize him being benched in the 4th again cause Curry got homie doing the real sombor shuffle.
By diehard Go To PostJokic is insanely good. Did i miss something? People don't think that?
His defense is not good.
I'm just living in the future and giving him the much needed backlash that any other 2x MVP would be getting without any titles to mention.
When you are scheduling a game between two MVPs, always make sure is a back-to back for one of the teams..
