By Burt The Samurai Go To PostyesI was going to say that the World Cup would probably going to be a good break for Benfica but looking at your usual lineup, your back 4 are all likely to be called up plus João Mário and Enzo Fernandez (Benfica's best signing of the season and one of my favourite players in my Portuguese League squad in FIFA 23, I score a lot of goals with him).
thank you
we'll break by january because the squad doesn't have enough depth. roger isn't a magician, he's just a really good manager.
By Xpike Go To Postits almost as if spurs have 1 plan this season
Konate 'fitness doubt' for tomorrow. Good thing I have a yoga class instead of watching Gomez at CB and Milner at RB.

By Cleff Go To PostConfirmation that United can't do anything re Greenwood until after the verdict. While I think Greenwood and Mendy are absolute monsters that deserve the highest punishment possible, this is the correct way to handle the situation.
Suspended until the court decides.
It's true that there's a lot of evidence against him but there needs to be trust in judicial system that it's going to make the right decision.
At least Greenwood is suspended, unlike a certain 29 year old Ghanian man who has helped his team reach the top of the league.

That's unaffordable amount for our reality.
But I doubt Enzo is leaving in January, it's too soon.
He will definitely leave in the summer though and probably Antonio Silva as well.

it's unsustainable to create a decent CL team when you're bleeding any talent you have asap.

Wilson can get injured tomorrow and they can go back to being draw (SHIT)kings.
I don't think we ever seen so many injuries pre WC for so many big players.
The ridiculous schedule was a mistake.

David, I love you brother. You were the best keeper in the league for at least 5 years and the best in the world for a few of those too. But it's done now. Time to move on.
Didn't pay much attention to the match as I watching Halloween 2018 and Benfica were playing with half of their starting 11 against third tier Caldas in the Portuguese Cup but that match just went to extra time after ending 1-1.

Club legend. Give the man the final bumper deal he deserves. 6 years deal, 400k a week, De God deserves nothing less.
Caldas X Benfica is going to penalties.
I clearly need to compliment rvy on Benfica's performances every week now.

Benfica won on penalties, 5-3. Still, pretty impressive result for Caldas.
A third tier team taking a team like Benfica to penalties is something to be proud of.

A journalist with connections to PSG said on TV that Rúben Amorim is going to be PSG's manager next season.
I wouldn't be shocked if that happened. Unless things change drastically in the next months, he is leaving at the end of the season.
He was absolutely fucked over by the board and he has been very open publicly by how upset he was for Matheus Nunes's transfer but he is starting to lose the support of the fans mainly due to his attitude regarding Ricardo Esgaio.
I was on Amorim's side during his problems with Mathieu, Ristovsky and Slimani but I can't understand his position regarding Esgaio.
No other player in the squad has made so many mistakes that resulted in goals for the other team as Esgaio has made in the past years.
You could say that it's true he made those mistakes but he is good in another areas, that's just not the case with Esgaio.
His defending is subpar and is pretty much worthless on attack.
Amorim says that Esgaio is a great man and an excellent professional but that's not visible on the pitch.
Amorim hinted that Esgaio is starting tomorrow and it almost seems like he is trying to force his will.
Esgaio isn't mentally okay, he had to shut down his social media accounts due to hateful messages towards him.
I hate that the guy plays for us and say a lot of shit about online but I would never go into his accounts and trash him.
He is probably the least culpable person in all of this.
Esgaio is a below average footballer but it's not his fault that we paid 5M€ for him and that he keeps playing for us.
My theory is that Amorim sees Esgaio as a reflection of himself when he was a player. Amorim was an excellent professional but a lackluster right back that could play in multiple positions, like Esgaio.
Amorim was treated poorly in the later years of his career, even being forced to train alone when Jorge Jesus was the manager at Benfica.
So Amorim doesn't want to subject Esgaio to the same and continues to play him.
You could say that isn't a bad idea and it worked with Adan, after putting a performance that was talked about worldwide as the worst 10 minutes a keeper ever had on the Champions League, Adan put on a man of the march performance against Santa Clara.
The difference is that Adan and Esgaio are very different, Esgaio doesn't have the experience in bigger clubs that Adan had and doesn't seem to have the mental strength Adan has.
Maybe Esgaio will shock me and pull out an incredible performance tomorrow but I doubt it.

On the topic of managers moving on to new ventures, Marcelo Gallardo recently announced that he will be leaving River Plate at the end of the South American season. As River manager he won 14 trophies in 8 years. I wonder which European club will approach him to take over?
He is very accomplished and has earned a reputation for progressive, high tempo, possession based tactics. I'm not sure a top tier club would take a chance on him, but maybe a side just a level below? A Sevilla or a Leicester perhaps? Or even Southampton. Maybe a top side that is struggling for an identity too. Juve could be looking for a new boss shortly.
