Ah well. Not going to define our season one way or another. Pleased for Martial putting CR7 back even further on the pecking order (until he gets injured again).
Anyway, in all seriousness, terrible result and performance. Early goal absolutely fucked us mentally. It took a City in neutral gear in the second half for us to have any semblance of respectability.
Hopefully Martial can stay fit and start, hopefully the McTominay experiment is over, and hopefully it’s a bizarre blip… again.
City were outstanding in the first half. Haaland is genuinely unreal.

By Vini.lad Go To PostI wonder how tiny Haalands penis size might be🤫
At least Man City’s defense is leaky. Glad our game got post poned. 😰
Casemiro hasn't started well. Looks a bit off the pace and gets caught in possession sometimes. But he looks infinitely more comfortable on the ball than McTominay and makes some genuinely good line breaking passes. Has to start from now on. He doesn't have the same mobility but he's better at everything else.
Antony could also be very good for us. Looks very comfortable on the ball and can play around a pressing defence.

There's still considerable time left in the game.

Their whole world gets shaken.
Would like to see Fred coming in for Bruno and Eriksen moving to 10. We'd gain greater mobility in midfield. Might lose something from our build up play, but see a slightly more measured approach near the oppositions goal.
By bud Go To Postthings extravagance in a gif
it's in their dna at this point.
grim.
Don't care. I'm taking those three goals as a qualified positive. City's level clearly dropped, but last season we wouldn't have scored even once.

This was the hardest fixture in the calendar, absolutely no sense in trying to power through their press unless you've admitted defeat before the game starts and just absolutely need to see your tactics fail to learn.
Bad day at the office.
We move on.
Inky is right, ETH was naive, he's never faced a side like City before, next time pack the midfield.

Going to be really, really hard to keep up with City when that big lump is getting a toe to every cross KDB can put in the box.
They are conceding a fair few this season though.
Think the Martial redemption arc (without playing) is madness - lad has been given year after year.

I'm sorry for you N8. I still love you but you are a tarnished United fan. I have much more respect for your brother.
We'll never be able to fully rely on Martial, I think. He's talented but can't stay fit for prolonged periods.
He's also a mardy bastard.

Fair play to the lad for coming to his senses.
I applaud him.

It's very N8 to try and attack his good brother like this. Dispicable.

By n8 dogg Go To PostWhole city team does. De Bruyne could be like Messi and just stroll around if he wanted, but he presses with the rest of them. Wild buy in.
How does Pep do it?
How does someone motivate people to do that. It’s a genuine question.
It surely can’t be just the threat of not playing the next game.
city can be beat.
they're less dominant in midfield because they're playing with a pure striker now.
arteta will find a way.

think saliba vs halaand will be great
sadly just woke up so missed the match but looking at the replays united had a huge problem with pressing ball carriers and marking in the box, looked like they couldn't care

Arteta leads joyful Arsenal resurgence in contrast to Conte’s pragmatism
There are many differences between Arsenal and Tottenham right now, but perhaps this feels the most basic of them. Do Tottenham genuinely look as though they’re having fun? Results have been good. There is a system, a method, a plan, a collective buy-in, five shouting Italians on the bench to enforce order. But with the possible exception of 20 lawless minutes against Leicester, there has been precious little joy to them.
You might argue that this is the Antonio Conte way, and he has the medals to back it up. Tottenham finished above Arsenal last season playing a very similar kind of football, and may yet do it again. But which of these two clubs would you rather be supporting right now? Which side would you rather play in? Whose arm would you rather have draped around your shoulder in the warm aftermath of victory?
wonder what the spurs lads think about that.
because i do agree with him: there is no joy in watching spurs play football.
