By Frustrated_me Go To PostNaglesmann is 3 for 3 against Barca, Xavi doesn't know what he's doing.I didn't see much of the second half, but Barca should have been well ahead at HT.. thought Xavi seemed to have the tactics fine, just let down by poor finishing from big players.

By Crusher Go To PostDarwin was in bed with Lady Luck last season. Pool got worked into a shoot by Mendes.Think He'll come good. But he's no Mane.
Brugge ran a clinic on them. Scamming AC with De Ketelaere is paying off, their team is really stacked now. Think they might get out of the CL group stages, something a Belgian team hasn't achieved since 1830 or so.
For now we at least need to keep Darwin away from the right flank. He looks abysmal when tasked with either going on the outside or doing something clever inside. Much rather have him backing a defender up and cutting in, which he seems quite adept at. Do that enough times and he should make something happen. We're already overloaded on the right anyway most of the time.
Football is a funny game. In August, we were finished, the team was crap, the defense was terrible and we were going to be humiliated in the Champions League...
This month, 4 games, 4 clean sheets, 11 goals scored.
First win away in Germany, first time Sporting wins the first two games in the Champions League group stage.
Rúben Amorim is a miracle worker, we lost so much quality and still are competitive in the Champions League.
Impressive result tonight. Spurs should have done better, they are the far better team and got a full week's rest but we had the better goal chances and defended brilliantly.
I have a few days of vacation still left, going to try and see if I can go to either the Marseille or Frankfurt matches, it's been more than a decade since I went to Alvalade and never saw a Champions League match live.

defence is weak irrespective of who plays.
Still can't believe that Artur Gomes came on to make his debut against Spurs only to score after a minute.
Everyone was badmouthing his signing, me included, no one could understand why Rúben wanted him and now he is scoring goals in the Champions League.
Rúben is a wizard.
Edit: we paid 2.5M€ for him, tonight's victory was worth 2.7M€.

They had more possession and came out hotter in the second half but. overall I'd say your team had better chances and made more of their opportunities.

One of those pieces that had the entirety of Anfield been 100% silent they'd have still run it anyway.

Like I look at the subs and think why the did Fati come on so late for anyways? Simplest question too lol, you're down 2-0 and are looking for goals.
By inky Go To PostNever listening to Martins' doom and gloom again. We had a terrible start of the season, we looked much weaker on paper than last season, severe lack of depth on the midfield with two Portuguese internationals being sold and replaced by a Japanese player that was playing in Santa Clara and a Greek player who wasn't really standing out in the Greek league.
Up front we lost our top goalscorer and our backup striker, didn't bring any new striker but 3 wingers, Trincão and two very cheap players from Guimarães and Estoril.
Now, things are starting to work out. The team got his groove back and we are back to defending well, the front 3 are getting goals and it seems we have goal threats to sub in.
We are still lacking in depth but we are looking much better. 3 weeks ago, getting out of the group stage seemed like an almost impossible task but now winning our remaining home matches would guarantee that.

The verdict is still out on him, but so far he's done fine, not amazing, not bad, just fine. You want to start a narrative here that he's been terrible. You weren't talking about him when he made you leave the thread for a month I know that much.
forget title challenges, if we're serious about top 4 we need to beat both pool and spurs, no excuses

Someone should probably tell him what an academy means
I think in this context Todd isn't talking about homegrown players but more talking about getting value by signing young players like Salah and De Bruyne for cheap. Back around the early 2010's we had a good record of scouting and pinching young players, some didn't work out but the success rate was pretty good. One season we signed Lukaku, De Bruyne, Courtois, Oriol Romeu and Patrick Bamford for around £35m

Nah its the approach he wants to take. He has already spent a lot of money on Chukwuemeka, Slonina and Casadei who are all under 19 and we were trying to get some young Russian wonderkid called Zakharyan but I think he was denied a Visa or something.

And in other news…
incredible stuff

seems like 'being spurs' in the main culprit then
we should go back to a simpler time, when you almost won the league
what a wonderful time it was and would have been

And if he wants to show us he's this clueless, let him.
These kids are going to go into the academy though or straight out on loan. He probably doesn't give two shits if they are "one of our own".
