So glad to see this. Ten Hag clearly expects so much more from the side that hopefully we'll eventually build towards.
The opening 10 minutes was the best possession based football we'd played in years. Saw constant rotations to either side of the pitch as well as good movement and quick passes into the middle to players who'd lost their markers. He wants that throughout the game and not just the 10 minutes we saw today.

Arsenal are much more evolved in how Arteta expects them to play but they’ve been at it a lot longer. Criticism about Man Utd not playing possession football against Arsenal rings hollow.
Thought Fred was excellent when he came on. He was very quick to close down the player in possession and he won the ball a few times. Also made some excellent forward runs.
That was helped by Arteta panicking, throwing on too many attackers and breaking their link between midfield and attack. Made it easier for Fred to close down as there weren't any other midfielders for him to cover. Knew exactly where the pass was going.

Obvs sucks that it took 2 DDG disasters before he stopped pretending we could build from the back with him and just instructed him to hoof it, but for the rest of the games .eth has been pragmatic in terms of the things we can't do yet. We don't die on a high line. We don't ignore space to press at all costs, and he wants the first 11 to go through all phases of the game and continue building chemistry before addressing things with subs and change the form to soak up pressure.
Most of our team have been drilled on counter attack for years now, and it's something we occasionally do well still so what would be the point in abandoning it wholesale when the pressing isn't ready and we don't have all the players for it.

We are in shameless hours now
By WJD Go To PostJimmy Hasselbaink really hates United doesn’t heThey all do. United made these players careers a nightmare.
Same goes for fans, there’s no such thing as a neutral when it comes to United.

Good post. Smart man. You and him. Inshallah king.

I'm glad he has adapted his style, but also that we're slowly changing how we play regardless. We're generally faster in releasing the ball and we there isn't a gaping chasm in midfield any more. Players drop into that space, receive a quick pass from deep and turn to survey what's in front. And there's usually some sort of movement ahead. It seems a small thing, but it's something we hadn't been doing in seasons past.

By Cleff Go To PostVery worried by Scott McTominay's transformation into a good shithouse.
Ten Hag working miracles.
right before maguire made that foul everyone made fun of, casemiro was the one who lost the ball and he looked like a geriatric tracking back.
wasn’t a good look.
at this point, i don’t see ten hag swappig him for casemiro anytime soon. lad’s playing alright, and i feel ten hag thinks the same.

Malacia struggled against Saka today. Easily the most uncomfortable he's looked since joining United. Thought he recovered as the second half went on though and finished the game strongly.
Martinez had issues against Gabriel Jesus too. The latter was really up for the physical duels and got the better of them at time. But Martinez also adapted and got better as the game progressed.

you lads ever had a dead limb?
Must've slept on top of my right arm last night, when I woke up around 7 and reached for my phone my arm wouldn't respond, it was just flopping about like that scene in harry potter. I was still sleepy so it freaked me out a bit, but it was kind of fascinating to look at as well.
