people underrating how hard this is is mind boggling to me
the only truly catastrophic eastern conference he's gone through is this years, and that's almost solely because of injury (to his team too, mind). the east sucks but the top teams are tough to play. physical, and draining shit. late era kg celtics, those 60 win bulls that the heat tore apart, indiana bully ball where the dude is being bodied by david west and shit. having to go up against those defenses ain't a walk in the park
and of course, he did actually beat two of the best of the west in the finals so
even just getting through the physical toughness of it is remarkable, and people have the stones to make fun of him for getting cramps smh
the quality is more consistent with what jordan faced in his second threepeat imo, aka the league as a whole is down but playoffs is playoffs and theres always tough teams you gotta play
By duki Go To Postyeah really
Nah. Not really.
its more impressive the run of 50 win seasons the Spurs have had. In the West.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostIt is impressive that LeBron has really only ever lost to one not amazing opponent in the playoffs (the 2010 Celtics) in his entire career. Being able to not ever lose to inferior opponents is a pretty good sign of consistency and mental strength. Every other team he's ever lost to was super elite… Well, unless you want to argue against the 2009 Magic.2007/2014 Spurs? 2011 Mavericks?
By RBK Go To Post2007/2014 Spurs? 2011 Mavericks?

That teams second best player was Larry Hughes. 2007 Spurs were as inferior to the Cavs as the Warriors were a favorable matchup for the Rockets
Remember, this dude said McHale is a good coach whereas Popovich is not.

Lebron has beaten 7 50 win teams in his career. Arguing that he only loses to great teams is silly when he's only played 7.
That's the kind of weak conference that would make George Mikan blush. 5 in a row is insane, and I've said as much, because of the sheer minutes and toll on the body. But that's more because he's an indestructible cyborg rather than because he's defeated gauntlets of opposition year after year.
He's going to end up the only top 10 all time player with a losing Finals record. Considering all 4 of his losses were blowouts and one of his wins was a miracle and maybe the clutchest play in finals history (not made by him). Yea that's gonna affect his legacy.
If Kobe was at the bottom of that 50 win graphic and was 2 for 6 he'd be trashed non stop by the current crop of guys defending Lebron.
Edit: shit, what Dirk did in 2011 was more impressive than all 5 of lebron's consecutive finals appearances combined in terms of beating great opposition.

Brehs I could've sworn I saw a fucking roach but I went to get some paper towels and now there is no trace of the fucker. I'm starting to think that maybe I had a legit hallucination. The thing is I literally can't tell; it felt very real but I have reasons to doubt myself right now, yet roaches are also sneaky so it could've just hid somewhere.
Not sure if I prefer the roach or being crazy.
Shit now I'm paranoid that it's close.

By DY_nasty Go To PostI just don't think you can hold it against LBJ for playing in a shit conferenceNo, but you sure as fuck better not argue for it, either. You can't trot out "he went to 5 straight Finals he's so amazing!" and not be hit with "yeah, but that conference was all-time doo-doo". It goes hand in hand and requires context. It's not even subtle, context, either.
shit like that matters less and less as time goes on though
like, memories of the sort of competition jordan faced is already fading in the minds of younger generations and won't even be a thing in a decade

Hakeem alone faced 2 60-win teams and 5 50-win teams in his 2 title runs.
That ESPN chart is just a small sample and is missing a lot of players. Shaq, for example.

Lebron is an all time great and the quality of competition doesn't change that.
I don't know why this is so hard to fathom. You play whoever is in front of you, what the hell else is Lebron supposed to do? Would his career look better if he had failed to make two of those lost Finals series and end up 2-1 in the Finals instead? No, because that would be insane.

If LeBron wanted to be remembered as the GOAT, he would come play with Gobert and G-Time in Utah. Plenty of 50 wins team to beat out West and he would beat all of them.

George Mikan > Lebron confirmed.
You don't blame Lebron for playing in the east by choice for 5 of his 6 finals appearances but have no problem blaming Kobe for starting his career on a team that traded for Shaq and then traded away Shaq to go into a full rebuild for 3 years taking 10 years of his career before he was given his own contending team.
Look. It's fine that you're a Lebron Stan. Just cut the "I'm objective and logical and devoted to Analytics and no subjectivity" nonsense.

I didn't even mention Kobe at all here so I don't even know why you brought him up. But if you must, I think Lebron > Kobe because he has demonstrated throughout his career to be better all around basketball player than Kobe was throughout his career. All that other ancillary nonsense is just that.

There are, however, quite a handful of all time greats, and Lebron should not be near the top of that list.

That's not what was argued. What was argued is that you there are statistics being placed in front of you that you're ignoring because they don't favor Lebron, so you're calling them nonsense and moving forward.
You can think Lebron > Kobe. That's totally fine. And he is a better all around basketball player. But lebron's a better all around basketball player than anyone who's ever played the game. Jordan, Magic, Russell, and Wilt included.
But when shown data that shows lebron's historically easy path throughout the playoffs and to dismiss them as irrelevant simply because you like Lebron so damn much means your "objectivity and Analytics are important in all discussions" goes out the window.
I don't know why it's so difficult to accept that LeBron has been a better player than Kobe Bryant in many ways. If I am starting a team and the top two picks are between Kobe and LeBron, I'm taking LeBron 100 out of 100 times. I wouldn't even flinch or question. If we're measuring purely on skill and what each player brings to a team I don't see how anyone can argue for Kobe. Now, I do believe Kobe has been one of the top 10-15 players of all time and the second greatest shooting guard but he is a scorer. I'm not taking his defense over LeBron. I'm not taking his passing ability over LeBron. I'm not taking his efficiency over LeBron's.
If I'm wanting a player to push his team in the last 1-2 minutes of a game and literally WILL himself and his team? I'll take Kobe. Last minute situation? Kobe. But LeBron is just a better player. I'm a Lakers fan at my core and Kobe is my favorite Laker besides Magic but come on now.
