It makes him look terrible.

Might need to hold off on Vahagn's avi until either Harden/Howard is hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy.
D12 winning Finals MVP would be even better.

I doubt Jordan could have even beaten the Spurs of the last two years. ELO is a bunch of bullshit too. Not Lebrons fault that he was a top seed or second seed every year he went to the finals. Being a high seed means you are going to play up against lower ELO match ups.
By vire Go To PostStill gotta beat the best team from the West at the end of the day..
The best team from the west that already got worn out by the WC playoffs, while Bron gets to play his first 4 games against teams that couldn't even break .500 in a shitty conference. It's honestly not something to just be brushed off. Bron is the greatest player of his generation hands down, but his cakewalk to the Finals is gonna hang over him, rightfully so.

All I see I'm these posts is Kobe stans getting legit nervous Lebron is gonna overtake him in the eye of the public if he wins this year.
This Cinderella, growing up in Akron, coming back home and winning one for his "cursed" championship home state will supersede any of Kobes accomplishment... Well at least in the eye of the media.
It's annoying, and I don't really agree with it - but I can already see this shit now. ESPN and the TNT halftime show have already been hyping this win for Cleveland as the greatest shit of all time
I'm a Kobe fan but in terms of straight domination and ability LeBron is greater than Kobe. In terms of achievement, killer instinct, obsessive compulsion to compete? Kobe all day.

Kobe is a small part of the equation since he's being used as one of the players for comparison, but it really has a lot more to do with Bron playing in a historically weak conference.
You really don't have to dig up numbers to know Bron had weak competition for several seasons.

FOH.
By Moris Go To PostMake 6 Finals appearances and only beat 7 50-win teams, that's kind of insane.Yeah. I never thought about it in these terms but from 2008-2010 the Lakers made 3 straight Finals, beat 8 50 wins teams, lost to 1 50 win team, beat 1 48 win team.
The Spurs the last 3 years have also beaten quite a few 50 win teams, too.
The East is so weak outside of the top 1 or 2 teams every year...
It's not a knock on Lebron, really. I mean, it's not his fault the rest of the East has been so bad. He has no control over it. He's played 8 of his 12 years in Cleveland, the team that drafted him and his hometown. He shouldn't be expected to move West.
I can't hold it against him. He can only play against the teams put in front of him,
Earlier this week I said it's a shame that his Finals record is likely to be 2-4 but that's really not indicative of him but rather the quality of play out East. His 2007 team was easily the worst Finals team I've ever seen in my lifetime (yes, worse than the 2001 Sixers). Hell, I think almost every WCF team would have defeated them and most other ECF teams too. Last year's Miami team should not have made it, either (2012 and 2013 were great teams, however).
And time will tell with this team but I doubt it should be there, either. Does anyone think if the playoffs were seeded 1-16 that the Finals would include them?

Sure, he shouldn't be expected to go West and make it tough for him self. That's absurd.
But it's not the same accomplishment as doing it out west has been for that span of time.

WC and EC has kind of outlived its usefulness since you don't really see intense rivalries between teams. Especially the type where teams keep meeting up to strip playoff chances from another. Or two groups that really just hate the ever living shit of each other. Now it's just kind of anybody's guess who's gonna make it farther.

No, I agree. I think it's fair to bring up this fact in a discussion. I'm just saying I'm not going to blame him for that number.
It's like Babe Ruth not playing with black ball players. That wasn't his fault but it also means he never faced the actual best overall competition and that should be noted.
Lebron is the best player but he made the Finals more times than he should have because the competition out East was piss poor.
Phily and both NY shouldn't be this bad for a long time.. I'll blame those organization for being extremely incompetent
It's kind of incredible that teams in New York, Philly, Toronto, and Washington DC have been garbage so often recently.
You'd think you'd be able to randomly luck into some good years in those markets.
Philly will be good soon though and DC is good enough.

Shit like this is exactly why you need to understand how shitty the east is when talking about Lebron's playoff legacy.
Miami fans calling laker fans Kobe stans and then pretending they're objective in a Lebron discussion is lulzz.
You put together the most talented superstar team in 30 years and played in a historically bad conference that was decimated by injuries.

And went 2/4. . .
By lovingsteam Go To PostAnd went 2/4. . .I bet that was some ESPN employee who burned it and then had a camera crew running... Living in Miami area, there is tongue in cheek bitterness towards James, but people in general are very appreciative for what he brought to the city. Not only in terms of basketball, but business as well.
We also put up a tribute video for him when he came back and the fans gave a standing ovation. I mean, I'm conflicted with this Finals. I still like Lebron as a person, but I fucking despise Dan Gilbert and I can't believe he knelt the leg to help win a championship for that asshole.

but it's still in a garbage eastern conference.
It is impressive that LeBron has really only ever lost to one not amazing opponent in the playoffs (the 2010 Celtics) in his entire career. Being able to not ever lose to inferior opponents is a pretty good sign of consistency and mental strength. Every other team he's ever lost to was super elite... Well, unless you want to argue against the 2009 Magic.
It is hard to put how impressive the five straight achievement is into context though since this conference has been garbage over the last five years.
Of course, if he somehow beats the Warriors this year, that would be incredible.
