No doubt there'll be stories after the Liverpool game about the players doubting Ten Hags tactics.
There's already been some about the club blaming the manager over their transfer targets.

By Punished Go To PostWelcome to Liverpool, Nunes and Gonçalves. Please no, at least not this season.
Nunes already rejected offers from Wolves and West Ham that would triple his wages but he would definitely accept Liverpool.
I already accepted that we are going to lose him but losing him now would wreck our season.
Ten Hag was pretty insistent in his pre-match conference that United would get new players. Said the same thing in post match conference. Can absolutely see him being pissed off at the lack of signings.
Remember that Timber and Darwin were also priority targets whom we failed to get.

okay but i dont think its been solely the execs at united chasing De Jong for 3 months to no results
By Xpike Go To Postokay but i dont think its been solely the execs at united chasing De Jong for 3 months to no resultsThat's just one player though. There's nothing stopping you from trying to get others in the meantime.
Or there shouldn't be, but we know the Glazers aren't going to push the boat out on transfer spend.
Poor ETH, United are fucking garbage, their backroom requires a complete overhaul.

I do wonder about this as well. We have some very good players, who've played very well for us in the past, or very well for other clubs before we signed them. Yet they all look utter shit. It's like every single one of them mentally collapse at the first hint of pressure. I've no idea what has happened there.
Under Solksjaer we constantly conceded first. But we rallied and usually ended up winning. That was a sign that whilst there were tactical problems, there was belief that we'd turn it around and win. That belief has disappeared in the last 12 months.

They get Vietnam like flashes when opponents run at them. Its why a new squad is necessary.

Bring back the vibes.
I really liked Marcus Edwards tonight. Pedro Gonçalves and Matheus Nunes got the spotlight due to their goals but Edwards was the brightest star of the front 3 for most of the game. Easily our most threating player when it comes to taking on players.
Trincão also had his best game for us, besides the lovely assist to Pedro Gonçalves, he had an incredible curling shot from just inside the box that only was stopped by the post.
Ugarte was also a beast, the number of balls he recovered was unbelievable.
He got the ball back 3 times in 45 seconds at one point, think he could be one of Uruguay's surprises in the World Cup.
Really nice performance overall tonight. It was against a much weaker team but we needed a confidence boost after last weekend.
Getting a draw away at Braga wasn't an awful result but it was shocking how we gave up the lead 3 times, the final one in the last minutes.
Away at Porto next week, even a point would be massive.

Pele, just seen that Botafogo signed Tiquinho Soares.
He should be great for you, I wouldn't mind having him at Sporting.

Very simplistic analysis, but some of our many problems would be alleviated if Ronaldo left. He can't press, can't hold the ball up and falls over upon any contact.
He dived at least three time yesterday, twice in promising attacking positions a once in our own third which led to the De Gea howler. None of those 'efforts' led to freekicks and he was just damaging the side.
There are many, many issues with the side. But he's a pretty fucking big one.

Or is the issue he can't find any club, let alone a 'suitable' one?

Just responding to Shanks earlier; DDG’s issues not just that he can’t play out from the back, but he isn’t proactive in coming for crosses or sweeping either. Raya looked ten times the better keeper today.
Yeah it’s the least of DDG’s problems that he can’t ping balls from the back.
Playing out the back is overrated anyway

Playing from the back is fine, as long as it's not your only trick up your sleeve. Some teams force it and are shit at it, some teams are awfully boring doing it and just waste time, some are really good at it but it's all they do.
Best teams are the ones that can mix it up.

You look at how Alisson is so alert to any sign of trouble behind his back four, or how confident he is coming for crosses. De Gea cannot or will not do that.

Was trending globally at a point yesterday. What a lad though, no goals conceded. Haaland shitting it for next week.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostIt's a loan, he actually signed a renewal until 2026.doesn't justify spending big and putting him aside
He quietly made good appearances while Gavi/Pedri were shining so it's good he wasn't sold.
Feel like Alisson's biggest strength is his ability to put errors behind him. Can't recall him playing badly two games in a row for us. Ederson's confidence is insane, he can almost cost City a goal with a dodgy pass one minute, then Cruyff-turn a striker on the goal line the next.
Big fan of Pope, any signs yet that he can play a more proactive role than he did at Burnley? Genuinely have no idea how good he is on the ball or outside of his six yard box, always thought it was a bit harsh that everyone assumed he was dreadful at it when there was hardly any evidence either way. Looked like he played well today.

But also playing from the back and stringing together passes just creates more chances to fuck up and make a mistake with the opponent winning the ball. Just hoof it and win the ball back close to the opponent’s goal.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostI agree.I would agree. However, there are teams who have players that are so freaking good at absorbing pressure, some teams even have multiple players who are great at absorbing pressure, and they can do it for a long time at a high level. Then, one pass while the other team is pressing and space is found and created out of nowhere it seems, leading to a good scoring chance. I'm sure you've seen this happening in many games. Pep's barca team was exceptional at this.

A good example of this: Liverpool pressing, they are applying high pressure (though not their best pressure in the game), but we're able to keep the ball and Fede releases Vini on a breakaway. Nothing becomes something.
