By Righteous Furry Go To PostSays it all when South American teams put all of their effort into the Club World Cup final and just get rolled over by the European team ambling about.yeah because no south american players ever play for the winning clubs
By inky Go To Postyeah because no south american players ever play for the winning clubsLol that was one of the fucking dumbest replies I've ever seen here. As if they don't pay > €50 million to populate their teams with our best players. As if they don't give our players EU passports so they no longer count as foreign player roster spots and they can circumvent the rule.

By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhat are your predictions? You guys don't think Mbappe or Benzema should at least be mentioned? One is arguably the best player to come and one is the best player right now who just happened to win the tournament in question mind you. Also Vini has to be listed in the young player category, he's incredible, these are all proven players. Halaand for how good he is hasn't even been proven in EPL yet, let alone CL (not saying he's not good). The only players on that list that deserve to be there are Lewa and KDB IMO. And pardon my ignorance, has Pedri even played a CL match?
But we all have our opinions, you may disagree with mine.
No World Cups for non-European teams since 2002
And when Spain had a Brazilian player up top he and they were fucking dreadful. No opinions, just facts.

By bone Go To PostThat "who knows what team" is Ecuador. Have some respect we qualified directly unlike Italy, Turkey, Sweden, Scotland, both Irelands, etc… Some fútbol fan you are that you don't even know who the opening match of the World Cup is. But I'm not surprised, this is the same place that uses coded language like "brute football" to refer to the South American game. You watch one South American club team play one match all year, the club world cup final. You never show any interest whatsoever in our game except for whatever young prospect you're pilfering. You're right m8, I'm an awful football fan, I don't know who the opener was against Qatar. I applaud you for thinking I have the capacity to remember shit like this though.
Fucking pricks.
I don't watch south american football, maybe I'll catch a River/Boca game here or there but that's as far as I go.
Good luck in the tournament.

And pardon my ignorance, has Pedri even played a CL match? To be fair, Haaland has already won the top scorer at the CL once before and he's at a team now that scores even more. I would imagine betting lines are probably not that far off 1:1 that he's the top scorer this edition. KDB is quite arguably the best player in the world and if City do win it as they're predicting, he or Haaland are more or less assured to win best player. All of their predictions seem pretty feasible but the objective award winners are baked into their club prediction being right which fingers crossed it will be.
But we all have our opinions, you may disagree with mine.
That's a fair point, agreed. Though if I can push back, Halaand was the top scorer in the CL that year but the goals were against Zenit, Lazio and Brugge with all due respect. Though he bagged 2 goals against Sevilla in each leg. Still, credit to him for finishing top scorer despite the team not making it into the finals.
I like Halaand, I think he'll do great. I just thought it may be premature to list him on that list.

And city are always going to challenge to at least the semi finals, so I don't think the predictions are absurd. I wouldn't complain if someone said vini/benzema/mbappe etc either but any of them are safe options. Only one I'd find a little unrealistic is foden, even though he's great I don't think he'll ever pop off in the CL and be that player to amaze everyone like vini or pedri or arnautovic could

What are Uruguay planning to do in terms of strikers at Qatar? From what I've read Darwin is still pretty far from making himself first choice for them, but it seems crazy to me that they'd rely on Suarez or Cavani, let alone both of them.
Just realised that I don't even know where either of them is playing this season.

He's scored 23 goals in 19 Champions league games

We are apparently looking for a second choice GK. 1m was budgeted previously for a 3rd choice GK but it has been bumped from 1m to 7m, and from 3rd choice to 2nd choice. Just one match has got EtH spooked lol

I think De Gea has got off very fucking lightly for his role in both goals the other day.
Henderson has a few pretty massive flaws, but you did get the feeling that our entire backline felt more solid and settled when he was in goal for that period in 2021. I don't have any hard facts to back that up, but having him sweeping, organising and claiming balls felt revelatory when compared to DDG's usual style.
Then the Liverpool game happened.

He was good against us, their best player on the day (that also doesn't mean he's good).
In case I haven't made it clear: I don't actually think Henderson is good enough for a top 4 team.
He just has more progressive qualities than De Gea.

By n8 dogg Go To PostI think De Gea has got off very fucking lightly for his role in both goals the other day.Yeah, definitely. A lot of football analyst have pointed that out more clearly. To play the kind of football we want to play under EtH, De Gea is simply not up to it. A lot of our players atm are not.
Henderson went from being overly confident to just plain arrogant which is weird because he's done fuck all to earn that arrogance
Glazers were setting us up for failure before the season even started.
Manchester United chiefs were keen for Erik ten Hag to play down expectations ahead of the new season, sources told ESPN, but the Dutchman instead decided to talk up their chances in an effort to improve the confidence within his squad.

Why hire ETH and then set him up for failure? What's even the point? It's borderline disrespectful.

Strange article from Sam Luckhurst in the Manchester Evening News. Seems like there's already a tug of war between Ten Hag and the recruitment department. The manager wants Ziyech and wanted Werner, but United had reservations on both apparently.
Just seems like someone is already airing grievances. Really should have dialled in on who ETH actually wanted during the fucking hours we spent interviewing him.

Ruben Amorim just said we don't have a single euro left for transfers. We are going to only have 3 senior midfielders for the first half of the season, 1 only striker and calling him a striker is dubious.
Edit : and now Amorim says that Paulinho is injured and will miss the next game, could miss more. So no senior striker available, that's great.
