I wouldn’t call Gilmour absolute trash lol that’s harsh. He’s had some good games for Chelsea but he’s just not suited to the PL.
It’s so rare that academy products make it, especially at clubs with lots of money. It’s only sentimentality that keeps getting them games.
See a lot of people upset that United are selling Garner, but I’m fine with it.

Totally forgot Oriol Romeu came to England via Chelsea first. Can only remember him as a Soton player. In the last year of his contract -- looks like he's off to Girona.

Took him from La Masia.

I guess Chelsea have enough 'just about good enough' club trained players already though

A few of those (like Loftus Cheek) and two who are easily among the best players at the club
By WoodenLung Go To PostA few of those (like Loftus Cheek) and two who are easily among the best players at the clubI was thinking of Loftus Cheek. Maybe gilmour could be better than him one day, but it seems a safer bet to just take the money
I think Gilmour will do well at Brighton. He is well suited to a possession heavy team and Potter has a way of maximizing a player's abilities while reducing/masking his deficiencies.

Yeah I'm not too bothered either way tbh. James, mount, rlc and Gallagher (who sure hasn't looked good so far though) and chalobah is fine for me
By Perfect Blue Go To PostGallagher will be at Everton soon enoughI can't see him dropping down from the PL

Been offered a good long term deal and wants to go home.
Bit of a legend for us but happy for him to go with Lavia replacing him. Will need another for cover now though
Seems Partey is only out until next week, guess it makes sense we're not going for a CM backup but I still want one

Xhaka-Lokonga
should be enough for Villa I guess

By Vini.lad Go To PostAbout Danilo, I have no information to bring you lads. Sorry.
We need a new Brazilian correspondent
Botafogo have pretty much killed my interest into brazilian football. I barely follow anything here.
The thing with some of our academy players is that when you consider the likes of McTom and Elanga are the ones who make it, you have to wonder how these other kids can't even get a shot. Garner had a good loan spell just recently.
It seems there is a minimum threshold of physical attributes like strength, speed and power that needs to be crossed before on the ball talent even comes into consideration and while these kids obviously look better against much worse opposition, they are still short of this particular mark.
That said, Rashford, McTom, etc. were given a random chance by managers either lacking options or trying to make a point. There are others who find a straighter path but it's rare. Not everyone is that lucky so you start to wonder if maybe we are just as shit at rating our own talent as we are at finding it in the market.
We've hardly had the chance to see them before discarding them like we did with some others like Blackett or Axel or TFM.

Maybe irl managers in charge of teams with high expectations can’t afford to waste time on kids that can’t even impress during training sessions.
That's definitely the case with us, especially right now with ETH wanting very particular players, but some of the same irl managers with high expectations have accepted giving players who have not played for the past 3-5 years contract extensions to the tune of 100k p/w
Maybe we are also just incompetent in more than one department.

By Xpike Go To PostToday is Lokongas awakeningIt'll be interesting to see where he ends up playing in the midfield, whether he goes into that Partey role or Xhaka drops back there instead.
I just don’t think a lot of these kids are that good to begin with and the hope that they will be one day is the only thing they have going for them.

yeah, this is pretty much it.
whenever i catch flashes of a youth game with an english club, those lads look big and strong for their age, but, technically, the majority of them are nothing to write about.

After blocking the Ocampos deal, Ajax´s supervisory board has now blocked Vlachodimos.
The business advisory group at Ajax seems to be in a turf war with the footballing side. They've been vetoing most transfers lined up by their DOF.
There are some of them that are absolutely phenomenal and you can see it from the very early stages, for example the fucking rapist who should be released from his contract already. Or some of the talent that Chelsea let go.
But most won't make it or can't translate that talent to the upper tiers. I'm fine with Garner being sold, it's always a crapshoot more than a strategy. And managers can also get it very wrong with the demands for instant success. As someone who really doesn't give a shit about top 4 this season, I'd rather see a system being implemented and giving some a chance even if it means holding on to not-gonna-make-it talents for a little while longer that's all.

at the same time some players also aren't going to be world class or ready for senior PL footy at 18 but reach that level eventually, Nketiah for example before last year looked like Ali Dia now he looks competent enough to start for a mid table side and with potential to still grow
I mean Ajax can still walk their league or get second at worst regardless of what their team looks like... but it sounds like a shitshow and a good way to get the coach or DOF to resign.
By Laboured Go To PostPoor Jurrien Timber. Should've gone while you had the chance my dude.Too bitch made, showed he lacks grinta to put it all on the line for Manchester Club, let him rot in the Eredivise.
Until we come for him in Summer.
